The Window RE image was not found

Split from this thread.

I had the same issue as CNYM, but attempting the fix that worked for him didn't work for me.

I placed winre.wim in my system 32 recovery folder, tried running reagentc /enable, and had cmd return this: REAGENTC.EXE: The Windows RE image was not found.

Here's a link to a screenshot of disk management as you had previously requested: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1rJly5_Q_B7L-FtyWB6deXRyXld1Gh-U4/view?usp=drive_link

Run:

  • diskpart

  • sel vol 2 -- Where vol #2 is your 810 MB Recovery partition.

  • assign letter S

  • set id=ebd0a0a2-b9e5-4433-87c0-68b6b72699c7

  • gpt attributes=0x0000000000000000

  • exit

  • md S:\Recovery\WindowsRE

  • xcopy /h C:\Windows\System32\Recovery\winre.wim S:\Recovery\WindowsRE\

  • label S: Recovery

  • del c:\windows\system32\recovery\reagent.xml /a

  • reagentc /disable

  • reagentc /setreimage /path S:\Recovery\WindowsRE /target C:\Windows

Please post screenshots. Will post the next set of commands after seeing the screenshots.

Edit: The 'assign letter S' command comes before the set id and gpt commands. The sequence has now been corrected.
