The server {9BA05972-F6A8-11CF-A442-00A0C90A8F39} did not register with DCOM within the required timeout.

Hi Guys,

I am getting the following error in my system event log

Event ID 10010 : Source is DistributedCom

The server {9BA05972-F6A8-11CF-A442-00A0C90A8F39} did not register with DCOM within the required timeout.

 

So after some digging I find it is something to do with "ShellWindows"

 

I have tried to edit the properties in dcomcnfg, but when I click on the properties of the object, the security settings is greyed out.

 

Has anyone any idea how to fix this error?

Thank you for posting.  From your issue description, I understand that you receive error: “The server {9BA05972-F6A8-11CF-A442-00A0C90A8F39} did not register with DCOM within the required timeout” in the event viewer. If I am wrong, please let me know.

To help you suggest more steps to resolve the issue, I would appreciate it if you could answer the following questions:

1.     Which antivirus application are you using?  

2.     Have you made any recent changes to the computer?

3.     Are you facing any issues with Widows 8?

4.  Do you experience any issue in the Computer at the time of the Event ID logged in the Event viewer?

 

While you reply us with more information perform sfc scan and check.

a.     Type “cmd” on the Start screen.

b.    Right-click on it and select “Run as administrator”.

c.     Type the following command and press Enter:

              sfc /scannow
