Teredo Tunneling Adapter Is Missing

The Teredo Tunneling Adapter is missing from my PC. I have tried to find it in device manager and it is not there. I did select show hidden devices but it still does not show up. I than tried to install it from the device manager via add legacy hardware, but it does not show up in the list under the Microsoft section. I have tried wiping my computer and reinstalling windows and that still did not fix it. When I run command prompt and type

'netsh interface Teredo show state' it shows that it is disabled but even when I run 'netsh interface Teredo set state type=default' than run

'netsh interface Teredo show state' it still shows that it is disabled. I'm out of ideas and cant find anything else on this subject to try. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Hey BravoTaco,

Yeah, there's no Teredo Tunneling Service on mine. Is this an issue you have where Teredo was unable to qualify? I think I might be able to help with that. Also, can you provide the output of "netsh interface Teredo show state"?

Let me know.

Hello Ethan, Thanks for the quick reply! Yes this is an issue with Teredo being unable to qualify. Here is the exact output of the 'show state' command.

C:\Windows\system32>netsh interface teredo show state
Teredo Parameters
---------------------------------------------
Type                    : disabled
Server Name             : win1711.ipv6.microsoft.com.
Client Refresh Interval : 30 seconds
Client Port             : unspecified
State                   : offline
Error                   : none

I'm literally doing this exact same thing after an hour of no help with Microsoft support. In the exact same situation, same outputs and everything. Well, except I have 20 seconds haha

BravoTaco,

Thanks for the info. Set the type to enterprise by using this command in an elevated Command Prompt session: netsh interface teredo set state type=enterpriseclient

It worked for me (although my network connectivity is still blocked in the Xbox app, I'm not sure how this would be for you). You can also try enabling IPv6 in your network interface (be it Wi-Fi or Ethernet, be sure that your router or other network equipment supports it).

It seems to me largely that your network equipment or setup with your Wi-Fi adapter or Ethernet adapter is not set up with IPv6 because it doesn't say it's unqualified or anything, the state is just offline. Let me know how this goes, and good luck.

Hey Bravo. I'm Greg, an installation specialist and 8 year Windows MVP, here to help you.

Update the Network drivers from the PC maker's Support Downloads webpage for your exact model. While there check for the latest Chipset, BIOS, Sound, Network, USB3, Bluetooth and all other drivers to compare with the version/date installled for that device in Device Manager reached by right clicking the Start Menu.

I hope this helps. Feel free to ask back any questions and let us know how it goes. I will keep working with you until it's resolved.

The status changed to dormant for me, but it still doesn't show up in Device manager or the legacy add area.

Thanks that did allow it to become enabled and working as far as I can tell. It still does not show up in device manager but, as long as it works that is fine by me. When the 'show state' command is ran, it now displays this.

C:\Windows\system32>netsh interface teredo show state
Teredo Parameters
---------------------------------------------
Type                    : enterpriseclient
Server Name             : win1711.ipv6.microsoft.com.
Client Refresh Interval : 30 seconds
Client Port             : unspecified
State                   : qualified
Client Type             : teredo client
Network                 : unmanaged
NAT                     : cone
NAT Special Behaviour   : UPNP: Yes, PortPreserving: Yes
Local Mapping           :  "HasIpHere"
External NAT Mapping    : "HasIpHere"

So I suppose everything is working now.  Currently reinstalling State of Decay 2 to see if I can play co-op now.

Will post back here to confirm.

Thanks again!

BravoTaco,

Yep, the stuff that I wanted enabled are in fact enabled! Enjoy State of Decay 2. Let me know how you make out on this, otherwise I think it's clear cut that yours will be working now. Meanwhile I gotta figure out stuff on my end, but at least your UPnP and PortPreserving flags are working!

Hello Greg, I used Driver Booster to download and install all my drivers it says that they are all up to date not sure how accurate the program is though. Also I built this computer so I guess I would just have to go the Motherboard's Company site to get driver updates?

Thanks for helping as well.
