Windows 8.1 Top Contributor:
Sync Google Contacts with Windows People App
I'm having difficulty with my connected Google account. I'd like to see my Google contacts within the People app. After connecting the Google account (I followed these instructions: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-in/windows-8/use-google-windows-8-rt) I see a snapshot of my Google contacts in the People App. However, when I make changes to contacts in Google, I'm not seeing these changes in the People app...even after closing and re-opening the app to force it to sync/update.
I presently use Google to keep my contacts and calendar. While I realize I cannot maintain my Google contacts and calendar within the Windows apps, I expected that I would be able to see a synced/updated snapshot from the apps.
I'd appreciate any suggestions.
Thanks,
Bob

I have the same issue - the People App seems to take several days to display finally contacts I have added to the Google.
I have also deleted one contact, but it is still displayed in the People App.
Removing/Adding account is useless.

Telling a Microsoft customer to contact Google to fix what is clearly a Microsoft problem is NOT helpful. Please post the solution. Thank you.

I followed and tried all the methods above and I can't sync my Gmail contacts with the People app.
The sync, when initially defined it is NOT an active sync, so when you update/add/change/remove a contact in your Gmail account you must Remove the Google account from People and re-add it.
Yes, this "amazing" method is the official answer from MS and they even documented it all over their support pages and above here by Vijay.
I really pity Vijay and his colleagues as they need to handle the stupid approach of MS.
Anyhow, after a few months fighting this, adding and removing the Google account from People, today and for the last weeks and a half it just won't sync at all!
I tried all the methods described here and nothing works.
My conclusion is that I wasted my money purchasing a Windows tablet. The only way a windows tablet will be useful is if you manage all your emails and contacts on a MS platform, be it Hotmail or outlook.
For the rest of the world (a majority) we better go with an Android tablet.
Any suggestions from Support????????????????? What to uninstall, what to restart?

Same issue. Google contacts don't sync. Even the initial sync doesn't happen. Nothing happens. Same to Google calendars.
I thought this were such a basic functionality that I don't understand while MS doesn't have millions of complaints coming their way yet? It's fine if it's Google's fault for changing the protocol, but MS should at least provide an alternative.
