Svchost.exe have been consuming data on Windows 10.

Original Title: Svchost.exe have been eating my bandwidth ? downloading ?

Svchost.exe have been eating my bandwidth ? Its been 5 hours and 868MB until now. Is this normal windows update ? I am on Windows 10 Build 14393.10. I just updated to Anniversary update.

SVCHOST relates to Background Intelligence transfer service that updates modern apps, windows update etc. Turn off automatic app updates and see if that helps.

Hi Dencel,

Please reply, which Windows edition is installed on the computer?

Some Windows editions are allowed to defer updates on the PC. If you are using Windows 10 Professional, Enterprise or Education edition, then you will be able to defer the downloads and installations of Windows Updates on your computer. Windows 10 Home edition users will not see this option. Windows 10 Pro and Home users cannot disable automatic updates on the PC’s.

Follow the steps below, and check if you are able to defer upgrades on the computer.

  1. Press Windows logo key on the keyboard, type settings and select the top most search result.

  2. Select Update & Security and click on Advanced Options from the window.

  3. Check the box Defer Upgrades.

Write to us with the status of deferring updates on the computer in the same post for further assistance. Your reply is most important for us to ensure we assist you accordingly.

Thank you.
