Sudden drop of the pc performance

Hello,i've been in very hard time for the last two weeks.

My laptop got so slow all of the sudden.

i used to play games over 150+ fps and programs would open instantly right after i click them.

now i cant play any game since the fps are lower than 30 and programs take too long to open.

And windows startup is effected as well it takes too long to start now.

i thought that i should switch back from windows 10 to windows 7.

However,it turned out to be even worse !

i thought that its a problem from the drivers but all of the drivers were installed and with latest updates of both drivers and windows.

i switched back to windows 10 in hope that everything will be fine.

However,nothing changed at all.

My laptop is Dell inspiron n5110:

Ram:4

Processor Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-2450M CPU @ 2.50 GHz

Graphic card:AMD Radeon HD 7400M Series

My Intel graphic card:Intel(R) HD Graphics 3000

What do i do?

Which windows should i install?

Hi Dez,

It is recommendable to be on the latest version of Windows, and that is Windows 10.

The performance issue might be due to a variety of reasons. One of which is due to an application or software recently installed and might be interfering with the laptop performance.

Having said that, what were the changes made before the issue started?

In the meantime, you can check this link for tips on how to improve your laptop performance.

Let us know the result.

Regards.

Hello,Thanks for responding.

I Already Tried all the tips but it doesn't seem like it changes anything.

And i didn't install any program recently.

I Only have 3-5 Programs on my laptop and two of them are games.

And now my laptop takes over 3 Minutes at startup.

And i'm Not sensing any overheating.

We appreciate you providing us those information.

Is there an antivirus program present on your PC? If yes, have you tried running an antivirus scan? This is what Ken Blake is referring to.

To further troubleshoot the issue you're experiencing, let's see if it will still occur when you create and use a different administrator account to run your programs. Kindly create another administrator account and observe if the issue will still be present.

Performing a Clean Boot can check if there are certain applications that are causing the issue. Clean Boot helps eliminate software conflicts that occur when running or installing a program in Windows 10.
Note: Please go through the section: How to reset the computer to start as usual after troubleshooting with clean boot of the Kb article to boot the computer in normal startup after fixing the issue.

You can also boot your PC into Safe Mode to check if the same issue will persist. Starting your PC in Safe Mode can help you troubleshoot problems on your PC while using a limited set of files and drivers. Here's how to set your PC in Safe Mode:

  1. Press the Windows + I key from the keyboard to launch Settings.
  2. Select Update & Security, then Recovery.
  3. Click the Restart now button under Advanced startup.
  4. Select Troubleshoot when you get into the Choose an option screen.
  5. Select Advanced options, then Startup Settings.
  6. Click Restart.
  7. Select 4 or press the F4 key from the keyboard after your PC restarts to start your PC now in Safe Mode.

Let us know what happens after following the above mentioned troubleshooting steps.

Thank you.
