Stop MSN Newletter

How can I stop receiving the MSN Newsletter but have some assurance my other Microsoft newsletters and desired promotions will continue?  At the bottom of the (unwanted) MSN Newsletter email I am referred to manage communications preferences but there is nothing about the MSN Newsletter on this page.  I don't want to cancel all Microsoft communications for this email but for me the MSN Newsletter is not desirable.  I can just delete the email when it comes, I guess, but this solution lacks style.

Bottom line:  What communications preference gets me MSN Newsletter and how can it be stopped?

Hi Todd,

You have mentioned that you are receiving MSN Newsletter and you want to stop receiving emails from MSN Newsletter, may we know if you have paid for this subscription for MSN? If yes, we suggest that you contact the MSN Support and check it with them.

However, if you are using an email application like Outlook.com or Outlook 2016 to access your emails, kindly let us know which application are you using. This is for us to know and give you the proper set of instructions in blocking emails from an email address.

Thanks for the quick response.  I have an @outlook.com email address but I haven't subscribed to MSN, paid or otherwise.  It is a free email account so perhaps receiving MSN Newsletter is part of the deal which can't be turned off?  I use several other Microsoft @live.com and @outlook.com emails which do not get the newsletter, though.

I typically read & send email using a desktop version of Outlook (Office 2013, Office 365, Office Professional Plus 2016 depending on the computer -- I juggle 4 or 5 of them -- not including receiving emails on my Windows phone or using Outlook on the web from public or others' computers when traveling or, occasionally, pulling Outlook email into other emailers like Zoho).

From your response it seems like you will suggest blocking the sender (why else would the Outlook version matter?); if that's the best we can do, no problem and I can handle that (or just take the occasional peek at the somewhat lurid MSN newsletter when it lands in my email before deleting it).  I was hoping for something more organic, though.

But my assumption may be wrong and you may in fact have a complete answer, which would be welcome.  The bottom of the MSN Newsletter has a link to manage Microsoft contact preferences and taking it leads to the screen cap below; nothing there seems right for the MSN Newsletter.

Thanks again for your help ... standing by for guidance.  Cheers!

Your subscriptions can be viewed through Services & subscriptions, you may be asked to sign in to see it. May we know if you can see this subscription through Services & subscriptions? If yes, you can cancel it through there by clicking Cancel.

Thanks again for  checking.  I am not subscribed to anything on the login email that receives the MSN Newsletter.  It looks like a gremlin in the system and not worth troubling over further.  The newsletter is not that onerous to receive and it does look like a resolution is not easy. Kind of glad 'cuz if it was easy and I missed I'd be a bit embarrassed ;o)

From the previous screenshot that you have posted, there is a checkbox to stop all newsletters to be sent to you. May we know if you have checked that checkbox and see if you are still receiving MSN Newsletters?

That might work but does not address the main concern.  I don't want to stop all newsletters, just MSN.  I have the concern that by checking the box you suggest my Azure, TechNet, MSDN, etc. newsletters will stop as well.  Dealing with an occasional unwanted MSN Newsletter (e.g., one arrived this morning) is tolerable to continue to get the other newsletters; I hesitate to cancel them all.

Again, this isn't a huge problem and we both have invested 1,000x more time that it is worth to track it down.  I just figured the MSN Newsletter was just another Microsoft newsletter and expected a click box to stop just the MSN newsletter or some other easy approach.  Apparently the hook for MSN Newsletter is embedded way deeper than we can imagine.  So happy to hear other ideas but happier to be sure I get my other newsletters.

The newsletters may have been bundled with the subscriptions that you have agreed to receive when you have created the account. May we know if you have agreed to receive newsletters specifically from MSN Newsletter?

I don't recall requesting the MSN Newsletter with other subscriptions but obviously it has taken hold somewhere in Microsoft communications; I was hoping Microsoft could tell me why they are sending the newsletter and allow me to stop it.  It feels like Microsoft may be laying this back on me a bit ... I failed to clear a check box from who knows where or when so I get a newsletter I don't want.

Can you tell me if the following selection includes the MSN Newsletter?  It is the only thing in my account selections that is not very specific about the sort of communications I receive (e.g., Azure, MVA, Visual Studio, etc).Image

MSN Newsletter sends you the latest news and trends that are handpicked from the MSN Channels. Meaning, they could be general information as what is stated from screenshot that you have posted.
