Steam games not working at all on windows 8,1

I recently got a new computer running windows 8.1 and since I installed steam only one of my games has run properly. The rest of them can be installed but when it comes to play them they go to the first time setup load screen and then just stop without entering the game at all.


I have looked everywhere for a solution. My drivers are completely up to date, all windows updates are installed. The only thing is that on every game that doesn't work it seems to be a direct x problem. However I have gone through every direct x fix located on the internet short of reinstalling the whole thing which you cant because it is windows 8.1. Does anyone have a clue as to what is going on because im getting really pissed off that all my games are useless.

It would be great if you can provide these information to assist you in a better way.

 

1)       What is the make and model of your computer?

2)       How did you install the latest Windows 8.1 compatible drivers for all the devices on the computer? Did you manually download and install them from the computer manufacturer’s website?

 

If you haven’t installed the latest drivers from the computer manufacturer’s website, then I would first suggest you to do that and check if that resolves the issue. Please go to the computer/device manufacturer’s website, search for the latest Windows 8.1 compatible drivers for your computer model and then download and install them on the computer. If Windows 8.1 compatible drivers are not available from the manufacturer’s website, then you may install the legacy drivers in the compatibility mode. To install any drivers/apps in the compatibility mode, you may refer to this article:

Download and install drivers

 

Also, make sure that you are launching the games as administrator and check if that resolves the issue.

I have exactly the same issues. I have an HP AMD A4 laptop running Windows 8 64bit and after the 8.1 update i can no longer play my steam games. I have tried everything suggested on various websites and nothing seems to work. When i click on a game play it simply does not load up. I have tried running as administrator but this does not make a difference. I am currently talking to Steam about this issue to hopefully get it sorted soon because I have steam games that i just can not play any more and it is really annoying.

Was there ever a solution to this?  I have the exact same issue.  Brand-new Dell desktop.

Steam keep messing me about and as of yet I have no solution and still can not use my steam games. If anyone gets a solution please let me know.
