Hi,

Thank you for posting in Community.

We understand your concern and we will provide the assistance required to help you resolve the issue.

Before we proceed, I would like you to provide the information stated below:

1. Did you make any changes to your PC prior to this issue?

2. Do you perform any specific task when the start menu freezes?

3. Are you able to open icons on the task bar when the start menu freezes?

For now, I suggest that you check if the same issue occurs in Safe Mode. Safe mode starts Windows in a basic state, using a limited set of files and drivers. It can help you troubleshoot problems on your PC. To learn how to log into Safe Mode click on the link below

Also, I suggest that you create or log into another user account and check if that account display the same symptoms. To learn how to create a new account click on the link below

Hope this helps

2.What type of tasks are you referring to??Please elaborate .

3.Yes, I'm able to open icons on task bar without any problem.

Hi,

Thank you for posting your response.

We appreciate the time and effort that you have invested in to fix the issue.

As per the above information, I suggest that you perform system restore, it helps you restore your computer's system files to an earlier point in time. It's a way to undo system changes to your computer without affecting your personal files, such as e‑mail, documents, or photos.

Sometimes, the installation of a program or a driver can cause an unexpected change to your computer or cause Windows to behave unpredictably. Usually, uninstalling the program or driver corrects the problem. If uninstalling doesn't fix the problem, you can try restoring your computer's system to an earlier date when everything worked correctly.

To perform restore, refer to the section Restore form a system restore point  provided in the link below

Thanks for the reply.I've just removed norton firewall and antivirus and it started working. Please donot suggest sysyem restore for every single problem.I've even tried that and didn't fix my problem. The only solution would be activating ms offered windows defender and firewall .
