Starmenue settings will not be saved after installing Windows 10 1809

Hello*,

I installed Windows 10 1809 on my PC (automated update). I didn't have any Data loss, but one thing thats anoying is, I changed my Startmenue (deleted some tiles, add new tiles etc.) but when I restard my PC, all changes are gone. I tried it several times without success.

My Antivirus is Micrsoft Defender. PC is self build. Everything worked fine before the update.

Is there any Chance to fix the Startmenue issue?

Hello, A pleasure to help you.

I must tell you that the problem that occurs after the update is known and the Microsoft team is in the process of investigation, since several users have reported this incident.

"We have paused the implementation of the Windows Update October 10, 2018 (version 1809) for all users while investigating isolated user reports that are missing some files after the update.
Microsoft employs a gradual implementation scheme, and not all Windows 10 users have received their last six-month update of the operating system. "

They suggested that you follow the Workaround steps that Microsoft requests to know about your incident described in the previous article.

So did I get it right?

1. The issue with the Start menue is related to the fact that users loose data after installing 1809?

I think there is something different happening. I just tried to reorganize the Startmenue after i successfully installed the 1809.

These Changes in the Startmeue are not being saved in 1809.

2. There will be an Update, that will fix all issues even on already installed Windows 10 1809 PCs?

Thanks.

Hi ForsterM, this may also be caused by Theme Syncing

Open the Settings App (gear icon on your Start Menu

Go to Accounts - Sync Your Settings

Turn off Theme Syncing and restart your PC

Make some changes to your Start Menu and restart your PC

Do those changes stick this time?

If not, then this is another bug in version 1809

Microsoft are working to fix the bugs in 1809 and will re-release that update soon

At the same time, they will probably release a patch through the usual Windows update process for those that have already installed that update

So for the moment, you have nothing to do until they do that . . .

Theme Syncing is disabled as i use a local account. So it really seems it is another bug in 1809. Hope this will be fixed.
