Some websites load as a white screen on single device across multiple browsers

Several websites will not load beyond a white screen. There is no error message. I typically use Chrome but this issue is consistent across Edge and Firefox as well for the same websites.

I have tried resetting network settings, restarting my router, disabling Norton, Admin DNS flush. Nothing has worked for more than a few minutes before the websites return to a blank state.

This is only proving to be an issue on my desktop PC as I can still access with an alternate laptop.

Hi Gavin_586

Welcome to the Microsoft Community

Understanding your problem, all browsers on your computer are loading a white screen

Check network adapter settings

Make sure that the network adapter settings are correct and have not been accidentally configured to a particular state that is causing the problem.

Open Control Panel > Network and Internet > Network Connections.

Right-click on the currently connected network adapter and select “Properties”.

Make sure that “Internet Protocol version 4 (TCP/IPv4)” and “Internet Protocol version 6 (TCP/IPv6)” are both checked, and check their properties to make sure that they are set to “Obtain IP address automatically” and ‘Obtain DNS server address automatically’.

IP and DNS Configuration

You mentioned that you have already tried to refresh DNS, but we can check the IP and DNS configurations in more detail.

To update the IP address and flush the DNS cache:

Open a command prompt as administrator.

Enter the following commands, pressing Enter after each entry:

ipconfig /release
ipconfig /renew
ipconfig /flushdns

Check router and firewall settings

Ensure that the router or system firewall configuration is not affecting a specific site.

Try rebooting the router completely (unplugging it and waiting 30 seconds before plugging it in again).

Make sure there are no website filters or firewall rules set up in the router to block access to certain websites.

Check inbound and outbound rules in Windows Firewall Advanced Settings to confirm that normal traffic is not blocked.

Create a new user account

Sometimes a corrupted user profile can cause this problem. Create a new local user account and try to access the problematic websites in the new account to see if the white screen problem persists.

In the Settings application on the Windows device, select Accounts > Other Users.

Under “Add another user”, select “Add account”.

If the person you are adding already has a Microsoft account, enter the e-mail address

To create a local account, select the option “Add a user who does not have a Microsoft account”.

Follow the instructions to complete the account setup and set this account as an administrator account.

Restart the computer and log in to the account to test if the problem persists.

Contact me if you need anything else.

Best wishes

I am having this same issue. I use Firefox as my primary browser but the same websites load only a white screen in Edge. This issue only started after the recent Windows update. The same websites load with no issue on my Android phone connected to the same home network. The issue is specific to the PC that has been recently had windows updates.

I have the same problem using any browser on my W10 machine. After troubleshooting, I found that my Threat Protection Pro with NordVPN was blocking some sites, it was not Edge or Firefox. I can allow these sites or not on NordVPN. You might check your antivirus/malware software on your system by turning them off. I wish you good results. Respectfully, Mark Somebody. IMPORTANT: Make sure that you know the site you are trying to open is safe before turning off your antivirus/malware protections to see if that is the cause of your white screen. If you are unsure about the site, don't turn off your protection.

NordVPN - Advanced Browser Security is the bottleneck at my place.
