"Some of these settings are hidden or managed by your organization" unable to change background

After taking an exam and shutting my computer down this morning, I turned it back on later to find my background was black. When I went to change it, I found it was unchangeable and it said "Some of these settings are hidden or managed by your organization". I saw another forum post that said to make another profile to see if it was the same for that and it was not the same - I was able to change the background on the other profile. I have attached a screenshot.

Thank you!

Hi Bsavage1515, I am Paulo. I'm an Independent Advisor and an individual like you inclined to help.

If you've logged in a school account on your personal computer, it will assume that your account is part of an organization. Check your school account in Settings > Accounts > Access work or school. Select your school account then disconnect it.

This should disassociate your personal computer to your school.

I hope this helps.

Paulo, thanks for the assistance. I have tried those options but none of them seem to apply to me. I am unable to find any of the folders in the Registry editor.

It’s only on background. It does not show this anywhere else.

It is in Personalization > Background, correct? If so, try these steps in Registry then.

1. Go to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\ActiveDesktop
2. On empty space at the right panel, right-click > New > DWORD
3. Set the name to NoChangingWallpaper
4. Set its value to 0
5. exit then restart your computer
