Some hot keys f9 and f10 for Brightness do not work with function key

I am using Windows 10 Pro on HP. Some of my laptop's hot keys work with function key but f9 and f10 for Brightness do not work with function key. When i open BIOS system, interestingly, it works there. I have installed and updated drivers, ran scans to diagnose hardware and software issues, troubleshooted keyboard. Nothing worked. What shall I do???????

Hi, I am Dave, I will help you with this.

The actions associated to the function keys are not controlled by Windows, they are usually controlled by a utility installed by the laptop manufacturer.

If the F9 and F10 are not working on their own, if you press Fn + F9 and Fn + F10 to see if they work.

If either works, try pressing Fn + Esc to turn off the function lock on your keyboard.

Otherwise, boot your laptop into BIOS, and search in there for a toggle to switch between Function and Action/Media Keys.

Otherwise, try the other options HP provide on this link:
