Ensure that “Windows Image Acquisition” service is running.
Wait until the status light turns green to indicate that the scanner is ready to scan.
Your system may not work properly if you use a USB cable other than the one that came with your scanner.
The scanner may not work properly when connected to the computer through more than one USB hub. Connect the scanner directly to the computer’s USB port or through one hub only.
The scanner may not work properly when your computer is in standby mode (Windows) or sleep mode. Restart the system and try scanning again.
Note : Install any pending Windows updates on the PC to check if that helps.
Updates are additions to software that can help prevent or fix problems, improve how your computer works, or enhance your computing experience.
Follow the steps to run the troubleshooter:
a. Press Windows key + S key to search Settings.
b. Type “Troubleshoot” without quotes and click on Troubleshooting in the results displayed on the left side of the screen.
c. In the new window, click Hardware and Sound.
d. In the list of options, click on Hardware and Devices.
e. Click Next and follow the on-screen instructions.
1. Press Windows + R keys from the keyboard to open Run command.
2. Type devmgmt.msc in Run window to open Device Manager window.
3. Under Print queues, right click on the printer and scanner drivers and Uninstall (Each of them).
Later contact the device manufacturer's website and download the latest drivers and check if it helps.
1. Download the updated driver from the manufacturer’s website.
2. Right click the driver installation file and select Properties then tap or click the Compatibility tab.
3. Place a check in the Run this program in compatibility mode for: box.
4. Tap the drop down box and select a previous operating system, then tap or click OK.
5. Try installing the driver and check.

Hi Colin,
Sorry for the delay in response. Are you still facing the issue? If yes, please set the slide/flim scanner to default and try scanning. Also install the latest driver from the manufacturer website and check if it helps.

Hi Colin,
Can you provide the exact model of the scanner?
I suggest you to uninstall the printer and scanner drivers from device manager, visit the manufacturer website and download the latest drivers from there. This would probably fix the issue.

Sorry for the inconvenience. Can you provide us the model number because without knowing the model number we won’t be able to check if the device is compatible with Windows 10 or if we need any additional drivers.

How do I do this and will it affect anything else?
