Skype error: "We can't open Skype. You are already signed in on this computer. Please sign out and try again."

I understand that you are unable to sign into your Skype account. The issue arises if the sometimes the Skype service is already running when you try to login to your system. To avoid these errors, you could Quit Skype or use Windows Task Manager to kill any Skype.exe process. Refer to the following steps to do so:

Method 1:

a. Right click on the taskbar.

b. Click on Task Manager.

c. Check in the Processes tab, if there is any Skype.exe process already running.

d. Select the process and click End Task.

If the issue still exists, try the next method.

Method 2:

Rename the Skype folder using the following steps and check if it helps.

a. On the desktop, press Windows key + R to open the Run Dialog.

b. Type %appdata% and press Enter.

c. In the new window, search for a folder named Skype.

d. Rename it to Skype_old.

e. Restart Skype.

Note: You will need your password to re-log on, and re-set any options from default.

None of the solutions available online is permanent solution. There is  always one instance of Skype running. When I click End Task. Access denied message is displayed.

Any idea how to fix this permanently.
