Sign into this computer using your Microsoft account

When I open "Settings" in windows and go to accounts I am prompted to sign into my Microsoft account, which I do but when it asks me for my password a second time it says incorrect information submitted. I haven't changed this password and I also use it for my Xbox and Microsoft web acct without issue, I also had these credentials written down since I created them so I know they are correct.

It appears that when it asks for my password "one last time" it will not register and states error: The password you entered for your device is incorrect. Please try again.

FYI: I used the same credentials in order to log in to the Microsoft Community Support page in order to submit this issue, therefore how can my credentials be wrong or expired?

Hi Johnny

Please try running the Microsoft Account troubleshooter to see if it resolves the problem:

Thanks for the reply Andre,

So I just ran the troubleshoot and it appears that there were two errors which sound like they could be related to the account sync issues that I've been having. I should also mention that I noticed this issue 2-4 weeks now and have performed several reboots and troubleshooting on the account since then. To me, the issue appears to be a setting or something related to the PC itself and not the account right?

Open Start > Settings > Accounts > Your info

It appears that I'm already signed into my Local Account as Administrator, therefore the option to sign in with a local account isn't there. Only the option to Sign in with a Microsoft account instead.

Are there any other account settings that I can look at?

Okay, so I finally managed to solve this problem which the resolution was very weird in my opinion. Before I attempted to use the net user command that you provided I restarted the PC and instead of logging in using my PIN, I switched the setting to use Password, I used my Microsoft account password that I normally use which is all lowercase but it then hinted that one letter is uppercase therefore I applied the change and it logged me in successfully.

Apparently, from what I can tell on Settings>Your info>Login to Microsoft account, on the first prompt for the password I entered all lowercase which it accepts without issue, then on the second prompt which states enter password "one last time" I entered it with an uppercase and it finally accepted. Perhaps the wording or something threw me off or do you agree that this is some kind of glitch?

Thanks for all of your help!!
