Sign-in blocked because of too many attempts, how long is this lock for?

I'm trying to sign in to a retired email that I used before college. After the first failed login, I was notified that my account sign in is blocked. I tried to recover the account but the automated system says I haven't provided enough info. Is this block a permanent thing? Why is there no human support?

I'm Jen. I'm an independent advisor and would happily help you figure this out.

Account block usually happens when there is unusual sign-in activity detected in the account. If you still have access to your security info like phone number, alternate email address, or authenticator app then you should be able to reset your password and access your account.

Unfortunately, if you don't have access to those you will need to use the recovery form instead. You can still submit another request and before doing so I suggest following the tips in this link.

I can't use the recovery form because this account is over 15 years old. It's asking me for emails I've recently sent and there's no way I'd ever be able to remember those. The answers I've submitted have been rejected twice and I can't access my back up email because Yahoo is asking for $12.99 to do a password recovery. Both Yahoo and Microsoft have apparently removed all humans from their customer support centers. I don't understand why there's a permanent lock on my account instead of the standard 24 hr period. I'm most likely the one who got the account locked to begin with because I couldn't remember which password I assigned it. At least I can say I'm happy I don't tie any of my business to this because this is a nightmare to deal with.

I understand this can be frustrating. Sadly, there isn't much we can do to recover locked accounts. In case you want to create a new account instead, I suggest adding multiple security info. I also do this to make sure I'll have access to the account no matter what.

I strongly agree with you. Microsoft needs human customer support because I've also lost an account I had for 15+ years which was tied to bank accounts and other important things and it was a hassle getting that information converted to a new account.

hi so iwas trying to log to into my mc accoutn i got the password wrong too many times and it said account is locked. the account it is tied to has no been used for a like only one or two years . from what im gettign from what your saying is i can not unlock the account i now the login know so i not like i would struggle top log in ?

That's actually crazy. I'd rather my account get hacked than permanently locked by Microsoft's automatic system. It is revealed again and again and again and again that Microsoft sucks at anything other than selling copies of Windows 7 (which I alongside every person I meet just crack anyway to not give Microsoft any undeserved revenue).

Every piece of software you provide are almost unusable, and give people headaches every day. I hate Microsoft.

I have GTA premium but it's not letting me get GTA online it showed me the icon and I also got the criminal starter pass and it says that I'll have it but it's not letting me
