SFC scan error and DISM stuck at 62.3% and then giving error later. Internet not working properly too. How to resolve this?

DISM and SFC scans are returning this error along with other issues occuring like net not being accessed correctly by all apps and windows update service maybe being faulty.

I have tried everything to resolve it but "dism /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth" gets stuck at 62.3% and later after waiting gets to 100% and just returns the same error each time.

After some time:

I have tried giving it source from separate install.wim file with the correct path and command but the error persists where it says it cant find the source files.

I also tried

  1. changing group policy and setting alternate path as source for DISM

  2. run dism/componentcheck and reset

  3. even have clean installed windows 11 using media creation tool and a flash drive.

  4. Run MalwareBytes which returns all OK incase of malwares/trojans... but the problem still persists..... The Internet works fine for some apps but for some I had to tinker in the Firewall and its rules to get them working.

I am currently using Windows 11 Pro version

I have attached the CBS and DISM logs as Onedrive links:

Hello,VedantKothari

Thank you for posting in the Microsoft community.

I understand that you are stuck at 62.3% when scanning with the SFC and DISM commands and that the Internet industry is not working properly, which normally should not be the case with a fresh install. Just to confirm, did you perform the fresh install and download the system through the link in this official website: Reinstall Windows - Microsoft Support

I have received your Log file, but the file data is large, we need some time to investigate and analyse this file, please be patient for some time. We will reply you as soon as possible.

We wish you a life of fulfilment!

Best Regards,

Thank you for your prompt reply!

I hope you are able to figure out the issues behind it and help me🤞

Regarding the reinstall, I downloaded the Media creation tool on a separate PC and created a bootable USB drive and selected the option where it allows you to keep all your apps and files and just reinstalls windows as I thought that to be sufficient to solve the missing source issues.

I don't want to format everything as I find it hard to reinstall all my apps as well as taking files backup to be a tedious and lengthy process which doesn't return my pc to my customized settings after the restore.

Hello,VedantKothari

Thank you for waiting!

Regarding the situation you mentioned, the DISM command is to repair the system by connecting to the Internet, the MalwareBytes you are currently running may have set up a higher level firewall for you, which prevents the system from installing and downloading image files as well as the networking function of the application, we suggest that you check the relevant settings.

We are always waiting for your reply, feel free to contact us for any progress!

I don't have MalwareBytes installed.

I downloaded it to run a scan for malware and have deleted it since but strangely whenever I boot my pc at the start the windows defender starts periodic scan and that my device is being managed by other providers but under virus protection shows that the providers are unknown and the real time protection stays off until a few mins then it strangely turns on and everything returns to normal.

I have run all types of uninstallers to look for remaining files from antiviruses which often lead to defender not functioning correctly but they haven't fixed it.

I think it's some malware or trojan which is causing this but all scans return normal from malware bytes and windows defender scans (offline too).

Hello,VedantKothari

Thank you for your reply!

Regarding the 0x800f0f error code you mentioned in DISM and SFC we have other users experiencing the same issue, please ignore this error unless you encountered it while installing updates.

I noticed you mentioned that another vendor is managing the device and was able to get the internet to work after you changed the firewall and rules, and it seems that your device is not currently experiencing any errors other than this one. Since all the virus scans are returning normal results, you don't have to worry about the risk of malware or Trojans, so please feel free to do so. Of course, you can also use the device to wait and see if there are any other anomalies, we can further investigate whether there is a virus risk.

We wish you all the best!

Hello,VedantKothari

Thank you for your reply, please be assured that I will answer this question for you.

From your picture it looks like you have a Nvidia related service that is not working properly, since it starts on boot you will see this error when you boot up the computer, but it has nothing to do with the system, so you can't fix it with SFC and DISM commands, so you can ignore this problem for now.

You can try to right-click the Start icon, select Device Manager, and then uninstall the Nvidia-related graphics drivers, and you should not see this error, so you can confirm whether it is a problem with the Nvidia service in this way. But you still need the driver to use the system normally, so you can try to use a lower version of Nvidia driver and Geforce experience to install it.

Give it a try and feel free to contact me in the forums with any developments.
