Set up a Sync Partnership

In my Windows 10 Control Panel - All Control Panel items - Sync Center - Sync Set up - As you probably know it reads: Before you can sync with anything, you need to set up a Sync Partnership. However, when I tap on Set up new sync partnerships. It reads: There are no new sync partnerships that can be set up on this computer. (after saying no sync partnerships set up yet) at the beginning. However what about at least 2 (TWO) I can quickly think of. #1: OneDrive. People are always syncing there mobile OnrDrive with their PC version, correct? #2: Samsung Galaxy Mobile Phone. I have a Phone Companion app on both to share and sync information. A bunch of others are coming to mind as I type this. Or is "Backup" and "Sync" two different types of things?

Respectfully,

Barry

Hi,

Thank you for writing to Microsoft Community Forums.

We understand your concern as you want a clarification on sync center in control panel.

Yes, you need to set up a Sync Partnership to enable Sync Set up in Sync Center under control panel. However, Syncing data in the PC using an app is not going detect under sync setup (example: OneDrive, Phone Connection or ICloud). With OneDrive, you can sync files between your computer and the cloud, so you can get to your files from anywhere - your computer, your mobile device, and even through the OneDrive website at OneDrive.com.

Sync Center is the feature of Windows 10 which allows you to sync the information between your PC and offline files which are saved in the folders of the network servers. You can obtain them even when your server or your PC is not linked with the network and thus they are termed as Offline Files.

Well if not OneDrive or Your Phone Companion what other types of things can you set up in a Sync Partnership in the Sync Center?

Thanks,

Barry
