Set default app for .file type file

how to set default app for .file type file

we can right click on it and open with but set default option is not available.

Please suggest
Hi Nilimesh

Right click one of those files,choose Properties

On the resulting dialog, click 'Change'

Select your preferred application, then click Apply and OK

That should set that file association for that file type . . .

I see the problem, the file you are trying to open does not have a file extension at all and therefore a default application cannot be set, I thought form your initial description it had a .file extension

In Windows, the way file associations are stored in the registry, the file name must end with an extension, if that had an extension it would look like the image below:

First. You must know what type of file it is. Like is it a .jpg, .doc, .pdf, bla bla. Otherwise, you won't be able to choose the default program for it.

To know what type is your file, you can do this:

If it is just a file type and don't have the extension, you can try this to find out it's format.

The only way would be to add a file extension to the file - right click and rename, then add .file

No, editing that will not set a file association on File

Honestly, it is not possibly to set an association on a file that does not have a file extension
