SDXC card does not mount in Windows 10

64 gig SDXC (note: not SDHC) card does not mount for reading or writing in Windows 10.  This worked on my system's SD card reader under Windows 7.  The external reader is recognized on the USB bus but the media is not mounted as a disk.

{ANSWERED} Requires an SDXC-compatible card reader.  My external USB card reader does not support SDXC.

{NEW QUESTION!} The internal card reader on my system -- which does support SDXC on Windows 7 -- is not recognized by Windows 10.  That's why I was messing around with the external reader.  Guess I need to hunt down a working driver for the internal reader (10-in-1 USB 3/multiformat card reader, fits in the floppy disc bay)

hi AntonyJose,

next to your solutions is there more that I can try to revive my Lexar Premium 64Gb 200x UHS-1 SDXC card? After inserting it Windows wants to format the card. Formattingtool 3.0 want to format to. Both see the read-only option on. Moving the slide on the card does not alter this.  Besides the card was properly working in W8.1 so why format at all.

Maybe this is related? can't install it on Win10 though

https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=4247

I have Intel Stick which has card slot that is supposed to support SDXC, but Win10 still shows SDXC 64GB Kingston card as only formattable up to 32GB at Format utility, even if I choose exFAT or NTFS

I tried the disconnect and reinstall method for the card reader and had no luck.  Then, as it happens, installing the latest Windows 10 update made the internal card reader work.  So, as of right now, I am a happy camper.

I had the same issue, but I noticed that the SDXC card had a drive letter E: assigned. I was already using letter E: so I changed the drive letter. The SDXC card connected immediately.
