Screen goes blank after log-in. Only mouse cursor appears

3/20/2010 - Screen goes black after log-in. Only mouse curser appears. This occured to all of my Windows 7 computers (I have 8 computers running Windows 7) on the same day.

If I let the computers sit (with a black screen), the screen will show up in about 35 minutes.

Hi skmounce,

Were recent changes made to the computer such as adding new hardware or software, including Windows Updates?  When you say that you let the computers sit for 35 minutes and the screen will show up in about 35 minutes, do mean that you reach the Windows logon screen?  Take a look at the Advanced startup options for Windows 7.  Restart your computer tapping on the F8 key and select Repair Your Computer.  This will open the System Recovery Options window.  Select Startup Repair.   You may also try System Restore to restore your computer to a point prior to this issue.  Let us know if this helps.
