Right click menu disappears as soon I try to display the menu using right click or Windows right click shortcut key

In explorer, the right click menu disappears as soon as I try to display with either:

1. using right click on Mouse

2. using the right click button between the alt and ctrl key

3. using shift+f10

this indicates an issue with Windows and not any hardware.

P.S. don't want any suggestions from volunteer tech support or so-called MVPs that repeats the same scripted non-working solutions below that has nothing to do with the actual problem (i.e. none of the solutions below work):

Hello,Swapnil Sayan SAHA1,

Welcome to Microsoft Community.

Thanks for your feedback,I understand that you are experiencing a crash issue with the right-click menu.

This is a very classic problem caused by third-party software. The issue occurs because some software adds its own shortcuts to the right-click menu, but sometimes there can be compatibility issues that lead to the right-click menu crashing.

Therefore, identifying the software that is causing the problem is the most important step. You might want to recall if you have installed any software that adds features to the right-click menu; uninstalling it may alleviate this issue.

Before identifying the cause of the problem, you can try running CMD in administrator mode and enter the following command to switch the right-click menu to an older version to see if it helps reduce the crashes:

reg add "HKCU\Software\Classes\CLSID{86ca1aa0-34aa-4e8b-a509-50c905bae2a2}\InprocServer32" /f /ve

To switch back to the Windows 11 style, simply enter the following command.
reg delete "HKCU\Software\Classes\CLSID{86ca1aa0-34aa-4e8b-a509-50c905bae2a2}\InprocServer32" /va /f

Disclaimer: Generally, modifying registry subkeys or work group is intended for advanced users, administrators, and IT Professionals. It can help fix some problems, however, serious problems might occur if you modify the registry incorrectly. Therefore, make sure that you follow these steps carefully. For further protection, back up the registry before you modify it. Then, you can restore the registry if a problem occurs. For more information about how to back up and restore the registry, click here to view the article.

I hope the information above can help you.If my understanding is wrong, please point it out, so that I can assist you better.

Your solution is not the right way to solve an engineering problem.

- Your solution merely avoids a problem created by Microsoft by removing user added shortcuts to right click menu, making it difficult for users to improve efficiency by adding shortcuts to right click menu. Your solution be like: Let's ask the user to uninstall an important 3rd party software to fix a mistake created by Windows. Reminds me when IT used to ask users to reinstall Windows to solve a problem.

- Also the problem is happening in the legacy context menu itself (you just copied pasted a non-working solution from one of the links regarding the registry) and not the newer context menu. If you didn't notice, I was on a Windows 10 platform, so not sure why you referred to Windows 11.

Nevertheless, the solution got resolved once I got the Windows 11 update. The newer Windows 11 style context menu doesn't crash even with user added shortcuts. However, I would beg you to not suggest this solution to a user who cannot update to newer Windows.

I'm having the same issue in Win10!!! But It only happens when OneDrive is running. Once I closed OneDrive the issue went away. I only had opened it to sync a few files but it was causing these issues.

I just want my MS products to just work without so many bugs...one more reason I'm considering Apple (music production) or Linux. I've been a user since MS dos days and It'd be nice to see MS get their act together unlike the last 5-7 yrs.

@Swapnil Sayan SAHA1 you nailed it on the head when you said "suggestions from volunteer tech support or so-called MVPs that repeats the same scripted non-working solutions below that has nothing to do with the actual problem (i.e. none of the solutions below work)". I should add my other computer is Win11 and it's absolute rubbish I'm dreading having to upgrade Win10 on my other computer.

Onedrive is one of the worst products that is being made worse (along with teams/outlook) by Microsoft engineers who need to show progress to not get laid off. These engineers are infamous for ruining perfectly good products just to avoid getting fired and showing "progress" to their managers.

Meanwhile, tech support gets "incentives" by posting word salad replies and clicking "I find this reply helpful" to their own reply similar to Stack Overflow lowlifes who get "reputation" by posting word salads and downvotes. They think we don't know how they operate.

If you are into music (I am too) use Mac. Windows has latency issues with ASIO drivers. My Windows laptop is a company laptop for work and I am stuck with it.
