remove Search history from Windows Explorer

In Windows Explorer, everything i search for stays in a drop down menu. Does anyone know how to remove this history?

There is no direct option to clear the history appearing in the search bar but you may use the below provided registry editing steps and check if these help -


1. Press Win+R and type regedit and press Enter. If the UAC prompts you, click yes.

2. Go to the keyHKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\WordWheelQuery

Right click on ‘WordWheelQuery’ and choose the Delete option. Click yes in the confirmation dialog to permanently delete the history.

3. Close the Registry Editor
