Remove Bing Redirect

I HATE Bing.  No matter what is set as my default search engine, it redirects to Bing. How do I remove Bing forever from my laptop.  My laptop is a Lenova and came with Bing. I prefer Chrome.  HELP!!!

Hi MYRADEAN

I am an independent advisor here to help

in order to provide you with the most relevant and helpful information, could you please clarify a bit more? Is this when searching through the windows search bar / Cortana? Is it when searching in Microsoft Edge or Internet Explorer? or did your Chrome browser somehow big bring up Bing search results?

Hello,

Whenever I want to search the internet, even tho I have Google Chrome set as my default search engine, and even tho I've removed Bing from my search engine list, my computer (or something) redirects my searches to Bing unless I specifically click on the Chrome icon, then....it asks me if I want to go to Chrome and when I click yes, it will finally go to Chrome. But unless I go throught multiple steps, I end up with Bing.....even tho I've deleted it from everyplace I can on my laptop. :(  How do I get Bing off my computer for good?  I know it's somehow tied to Microsoft, but I rarely use Cortana and if I have to delete it too, I will!  Thanks for any help you can give me.

Hello again

I'm still not clear on where on the computer you are in putting your search. But it sounds like you are searching the Internet by inputting the search into the windows search bar.

If that is the case then it will default to Bing as being is Microsoft search engine and you are utilizing Cortana to search the web when you input a search term into the windows search bar.

If you open your web browser directly such as Google Chrome in this case you should not have this problem when searching for information on the internet.

You also mentioned that you wouldn't mind getting rid of Cortana. You can disable Cortana and go back to the traditional Windows search bar. This would make it so that when you type things into the window search bar it searches only on your computer and does not search the internet. If you're interested in doing that please see the following guide

I feel the exact same way, This problem with Microsoft forcing Bing down our throats has been going on since the beginning of google/Microsoft and its time to fix Bing or let us use both windows and google search. The only other way is to quit windows all together

I guess I'm not tech savvy enough to answer your question.  I finally found where you're supposed to be able to remove Bing, but it is locked so you can't remove it as your search engine if you follow the directions.  I HATE BING and would just like to remove it completely from my laptop and any and all searches, but that doesn't seem possible....so I guess I'll just take all the extra steps to get to Google search.  Blah!!!  It's soooo annoying.  They try to force you to use Bing.
