Has anyone successfully reinstalled Microsoft store app in Windows 10 by doing a clean reinstall? I've tried everything suggested to "Gaming RJ" without success including a Reset with retention of personal files. I see numerous store files in Windows folder on C Drive but nothing in Start /Apps. At some point I have gotten the pop up similar to "need new app to access that link". Thank you.

Try the procedure below to re-register the Microsoft Store.
1. Press "Windows + X" and select "Windows PowerShell (Admin)";
2. Type or paste the following command and press Enter:
Get-AppXPackage *Microsoft.WindowsStore* | Foreach {Add-AppxPackage -DisableDevelopmentMode -Register “$($_.InstallLocation)\AppXManifest.xml”}
Note if the command will run correctly or will have a red message.
If it persists, do an Inplace Upgrade. This procedure reinstalls Windows.
But don't worry. You have the option to keep files, settings, and apps.
1. Download the Media Creation Tool and run it;
Access the link below and click on "Download tool now".
https://www.microsoft.com/software-download/win...
2. Accept the terms of use;
3. Select "Upgrade this PC now" and click "Next";
4. At the "Ready to install" screen, select "Choose what to keep" and select what you want to keep.
5. Click "Install" and wait for the procedure to finish. Your computer may restart several times.
I hope this helps. Feel free to ask back any questions.

Thanks, David. I tried the script you offered. The first try, it just brought up another command prompt. (I was not connected to internet this time.) The second tine, with internet connected, the script created >> on a new line. but nothing else. I have very limited experience with Powershell. Are there some common reasons why a script might not run?
I had previously tried the media creation too as well as doing a reset with personal files retention. Neither were successful in reinstalling msstore . Any ideas?

If no red message was displayed, the command was successfully executed.
Are you sure you performed the InPlace Upgrade as I instructed?
I've had several cases like yours. Every time, InPlace Upgrade has resolved this situation.
Try creating a new user with administrator privileges. See if the Microsoft Store will be available to the new user.

I just double checked by doing search for "store" in start menu. Found new item with todays date and referenced as Data Base File. When I tried to open , pop up is advising editing could damage system but prompts me to select app to use to open it....I have no idea. It's location is C:\ProgramData\USOPrivate\UpdateStore. I actually had created the new user acct last night . When I just now tabbed on Apps it now shows the store but I got the "You'll need a new app to open this ms-windows link. Yes, Had previous used the media tool.....which was disheartening at the time because before finding this option I had already lost my apps by doing a reset. Anyway, looks like some progress How should I proceed?

I assume you are on the latest version (21H2) as you have already done the InPlace Upgrade procedure before. Still, see if you have any other Windows updates to apply.

If Windows Update also has issues, look for an error code.

Try using wsreset -i command that Resets and Reinstalls Windows Store.

DavidM Thank you so much for your help. I had updated Windows and used the Media Creation tool to no avail. I must have had several things going on and ended up having to do a clean reinstall of Windows. Now I'm busy recreating user accounts and reinstalling apps. Nonetheless, I appreciate your taking the time to guide my efforts.

Hello
I reached out Microsoft support the other day to assist me with issues that I am having with Windows Updates. I spoke with a person whose name was Joy. She send me a trouble shooting link and I have spent numerous hours following all of the steps on trying to resolve this issue. I have even reformatted my hard drive to earlier dates. So far it has been unsuccessful. When I initiate a windows update I get a message saying your device is missing important security and quality fixes. I then get a message saying 2021-12 Cumulative Update for Windows 10 version 20H2 for x64-based SystemsKB5008212. I then get a Status Downloading it then stops at 10%. Then it goes to a status window saying installing and then immediately jumps to 100%. Then it goes back to the beginning without installing the updates required. I have been dealing with this issue for over a month now. Please help me correct this issue so that I can keep my system updated. I also get a message at the end that says. There were some problems installing updates,but we’ll try again later. If you keep seeing this and want to search the web or contact support for information, this may help: (0x800703f1)
