Recorded audio distorted and incomprehensible

I bought a new laptop recently. On the pc i used to use, i recorded audio through an audio interface, everything sounded fine. On the laptop, however, recorded audio sounds like compressed buzzing/noise. All the drivers are up to date, the audio interface works fine with other devices, recording through other inputs gives the same result. I'm a little lost on what to do.

here's what it sounds like, this is a recording of my guitar

Hello! My name is Renzo and welcome to Microsoft Community.

I'm sorry to hear that you are experiencing this issue and I'll be happy to help you out.

You can perform the steps below:

* Make sure the sample rate and bit depth in your recording software match those in your audio interface. Common values are 44.1 kHz and 24-bit.

1. In your audio software, check the preferences or settings for audio input and ensure it matches the settings on your audio interface.
2. In Windows, go to Control Panel > Sound, right-click your audio interface, select Properties, go to the Advanced tab, and check the Default Format for the sample rate and bit depth.

Disable Exclusive Mode

1. In Windows, go to Control Panel > Sound, right-click your audio interface
2. Go to the Playback tab and right-click on your audio interface.
3. Select Properties, then go to the Advanced tab.
4. Uncheck the boxes for Allow applications to take exclusive control of this device and Give exclusive mode applications priority.

Reinstall Audio Drivers

1. Device Manager (press Win + X > Device Manager > right-click your interface under Sound, video, and game controllers > Uninstall device).
2. After uninstalling, restart your PC, then reinstall the latest drivers from the audio interface manufacturer's website.

I hope the above steps helped you. In case of additional questions, reach out back to me, and I will be happy to help and try my best to resolve your issue. Thank you.
