Hi,
Let’s try this:
Method 1
Let’s enable the file and printer sharing option in the network & sharing center and check if you are able to copy the pictures from the memory card.
Enable file and printer sharing
http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows-vista/Enable-file-and-printer-sharing
Method 2
If it doesn’t help, let’s take ownership & give permission to the Z drive and check.
To take ownership of the drive, follow the steps given below:
1. Click Start, open Computer.
2. Right click on Z drive and select “Properties” from Context Menu.
3. Click on Security tab.
4. Click on “Advance”
5. Now click on Owner tab in Advance Security Settings
6. Click on Edit Button and select user from given Change Owner to list if user or group is not in given list then click on other users or groups. Enter name of user/group and click ok.
8. Now select User/group and click apply and ok. (Check “Replace owner on subcontainers and objects” if you have files and folder within selected folder)
9. Click ok when Windows Security Prompt is displayed
10. Now Owner name must have changed.
11. Now click Ok to exist from Properties windows
Once you have taken the ownership of file or folder next part comes is Granting Permissions to that file/folder or object.
To give permission, follow these steps:
1. Click Start, open Computer.
2. Right click on Z drive and select “Properties” from Context Menu.
3. Click on Edit button in Properties windows Click ok to confirm UAC elevation request.
4. Select user/group from permission windows or click add to add other user or group.
5. Now under Permission section check the rights which you want to grant i.e. check “Full Control” under the “Allow” column to assign full access rights control permissions to Administrators group.
6. Click Ok for changes to take effect and click ok final ok to exit from Properties window.
Hope the information helps. Please post back and let us know.

You are accessing it to a degre when you go to Start / Computer. The way to access it is to double click on it and see if it opens and shows any file or data - or even a blank page where files could be stored (that would mean you have network access to the drive). If it gives you an error like "Access is Denied" then right click on the drive icon and click on properties and then click on the Security tab. Make sure your username is included with Full Rights - if not, add it and make sure you check the box to include all sub-folders and files. Click on Advanced and do the same thing. Also make sure the Everyone user is not listed with deny access (if so, delete that entry entirely). Then go to the Owner Tab and see who is the owner of the drive. If it isn't you, change it to you. Here's some additional information about permissions and ownership which may come in handy if you run into problems doing this.
To see your permissions, right click the folder/file, click on properties, and check out the security tab. Check to see what permissions you have by clicking on your username (or user group). Here are the types of permissions you can have: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows-vista/What-are-permissions. You need to be an administrator or the owner to change permissions (and sometimes being an administrator or even an owner isn't enough - there are ways to block even them from access (though a smart administrator knows these ways and can get around them - but usually shouldn't because they were denied access usually for a very good reason). Here's how to change folder permissions in Vista: http://www.online-tech-tips.com/windows-vista/set-file-folder-permissions-vista/. To add take and grant full right permissions and ownership to the right click menu (which will make it faster to get in once it is set up), check out the following article: http://www.mydigitallife.info/2009/05/21/take-and-grant-full-control-permissions-and-ownership-in-windows-7-or-vista-right-click-menu/.
To fix this problem with the folders, take ownership of the folders or the drive (as an administrator) and give yourself full rights. Right click the folder/drive, click on properties, go to the security tab and click on Advanced and then click on the Owner tab. Click edit and then click the name of the person you want to give ownership to (you may need to add it if it isn't there - or it may be yourself). If you want it to apply to sub-folders and files within that folder/drive, then check the box for replace owner on sub-containers and objects and click OK. Back out and now there's a new owner for the folders/drive and files who can change permissions as needed. Here's more information on taking ownership of a file or folder: http://www.vistax64.com/tutorials/67717-take-ownership-file.html. To add take ownership to the right click menu (which will make it faster to get in once it is set up), check out the following article: http://www.howtogeek.com/howto/windows-vista/add-take-ownership-to-explorer-right-click-menu-in-vista/.
I hope this helps. If not, post back and we'll try some other options to try to find and resolve the problem.
Good luck.
