Hi OmerCormier,

Welcome to Microsoft Community. Let us help you on your concern.

I understand that you're getting multiple copies of the email on your account. To help us determine the issue, please provide answers to the following:

- Where are you checking your emails? Do you sign in to https://outlook.com or are you using an email client (ie. Windows Live Mail, Microsoft Office Outlook)?

- Does this happen on all the emails that you receive?

- Do you get multiple emails from one contact?

- Do you get multiple copies of emails if you send a test email to yourself?

We're looking forward to your reply.

Thanks,

Rhyan

I use Microsoft Live Mail.

It happens on all emails but not every day.

I get multiple emails from different contacts.

I do not get multiple emails that I send to myself.

There is NO check mark in front of "Leave copy of messages on server".

Some of my contacts are getting multiple emails as well.

Hi Omer,

We appreciate your time coming back to us and we thank you for the information that you've provided.

Duplicate emails normally happen when you accessed your account via mail client and there are stuck emails on your Outbox. To resolve this issue, I suggest that you remove your account on your Windows Live Mail and then re-configure your account back again. This will refresh the connection of your account to its server. To do this, please follow the article below:

How do I add an account to Windows Live Mail?

After you've added your account back, check if there are an emails stuck in outbox. If there are, delete all the messages (may need to go offline for this and resume normal operation after deleting) and then check if you still experience this issue again.

If the issue still persists, don't hesitate to inform us and we'll be happy to further assist you.

Thanks!

Eugene, I did as you instructed but I still get duplicate emails from different sources. The duplicates have the same time and date stamps as the originals. The duplicates usually arrive within a few minutes of the originals.

Hi,

Thank you for getting back to us.

Just to clarify the issue, does this issue also happens when you access your account on the web (Outlook.com)? Also, what configuration did you use to add your account on Windows Live Mail?

We would also like to ask for the affected email address so we could check it on our end. Kindly provide email address in the private message area.

Note: Please log into this post to view the private message area.

We are looking forward to your reply.

Thank you.

Hi,

Thank you for the information that you have provided.

We'd like to verify if you're also having the same problem when you're accessing your account via web or Outlook.com? Or does the issue only happens on Windows Live Mail?

In the meantime, kindly try to change your password. Changing your password will stop the synchronization of your account to your Windows Live Mail. Once you've change your password, please remove and add your account again to Windows Live Mail to re-establish its connection. Then check if you will still receive duplicate emails.

We will be waiting for your response so we can move on with our investigation.

Kind regards.

The duplicate emails occur in Outlook.co as well as in Windows Live Mail. I belong to a computer club and all the club members who have Sympatico as their ISP have the same problem. This tells me that the problem is not on our respective computers but on the Sympatico server which is controlled by Microsoft.

Thank you for all your assistance.

Hi,

Thank you for the additional information you have provided.

However, we strongly suggest that you try changing your password. As what the previous moderator has said, it will stop the synchronization of your account to Windows Live Mail that might have caused the issue.

After changing your password, kindly reconfigure your account to Windows Live Mail and see if the issue will persist.

Please get back to us with any results you may have,

Thanks!

Thank you all for your input. As we seem to be going in circles I would like to close off this issue as unresolved as no one is listening to the fact that a number of Sympatico users have the same problem. Again thank you for your efforts.
