Realtek PCIE card reader isn't working after Windows 11 upgrade

Hello,

A couple of days ago I upgraded my Windows 10 to Windows 11. Since the upgrade my Realtek PCIE card reader isn't working. Thus SD card isn't shown. This is for Lenovo Duet 3i mini laptop.

I browsed extensively for solutions before creatng this post, including tried solutions outlined in this community for same issues of others.

I uninstalled and reinstalled the driver multiple times (different versions), checked the BIOS. Updated everything that can be updated. So the issue isn't simple, but I need your help to find the exactly correct driver.

The SD card was working flawlessly before the upgrade and still works on other devices.

Hello, RositsaBG

Welcome to the Microsoft Community.

I have noticed that your SD card is not being read properly by your SD card in the Windows 11 upgrade.

I briefly searched the hardware parameter information of your laptop Lenovo Duet 3i and I noticed that your laptop doesn't seem to have a port for reading SD card, please allow me to assume that you are using an additional card reader adapter, please point out if I am wrong.

I note that you have done several driver updates and driver version switches, both system and drivers have been updated, I think I can basically rule out the Windows driver and system being old, you also mentioned that the SD card reads perfectly fine on other computers, please allow me to ask:

When you test the SD card reading on other devices, do you test it together with the adapter? I ask this to make sure that your hardware is perfectly fine.

As far as I know, some adapters use separate branded drivers and require that they be used on the appropriate system version, which is related to the scope of support of the hardware itself. I suggest you ask the adapter manufacturer if the device you purchased supports Windows 11 to better confirm the root cause of the problem.

I will keep an eye on the progress of your issue and await your response.

Best Regards.

Hello Jeffrey,

Your initial assumption is wrong. My Lenovo has built-in SD card reader, so it's not a third party device or external hardware. The SD card is inserted or can be taken out exactly as if it was a smartphone (using a pin). The SD cards was working well with the Windows 10 and stopped working immediately after upgrade to Windows 11. And the card works well on any other device I used. The issue isn't new and happened before to others. So. when I place the blame on Windows drivers, I'm completely confident in my statement.

Hello, RositsaBG

Apologize for my late reply.

I was off in my previous query of hardware information for your computer model, and I appreciate you correcting my misjudgment in time to get us back on track.

You have performed a series of error checks, and it is clear that you have a good understanding of the problem, and have implemented many of the suggestions we would have given you on your own, and ultimately you have attributed the problem to a driver compatibility issue, which is a very correct idea.

But allow me to clarify that Windows acts as a platform for a variety of functionality and hardware and software to engage with, and on that basis, compatibility issues sometimes cannot be solved by Windows alone. I think Lenovo's technical support should still have some solutions and compatibility-related instructions for you to refer to, please contact Lenovo's official support, the relevant links you can refer to:
