Random Verification Codes Via Text Msg

Within the past few days I've received two text messages giving me verification codes, only I haven't purchased or signed up for anything with Windows/Microsoft for that to be happening. The only Microsoft product that I have is my email, but that hasn't asked me for any kind of code, so I have no idea what it could be for. It is entirely possible that it's a scam, but I'm not sure what to do with it. Should I be worried? Is there anyway I can make it stop? Please let me know! Thanks!

Hi,

Turning two-step verification on or off for your Microsoft account

When two-step verification is on, every time you sign in to a device that isn’t trusted, you’ll receive a security code by email or on your phone to make sure that you’re you. When this setting is off, you only get and resend security codes periodically and when there might be a risk to your account security. To turn two-step verification on or off:
  1. Go to Security settings and sign in with your Microsoft account.
  2. Under the  Two-step verification  section choose Set up two-step verification to turn it on, or choose Turn off two-step verification to turn it off.
  3. Follow the instructions.
Learn more about two-step verification.

I would suggest you to refer to the following link:

Hope it helps.
