Prolific USB - Adapter Serial Cable

I have prolific usb-serial adapter cable which i use with my nokia phone. I use the phone for mobile internet.
Everything works great with Windows XP. However, I moved to Windows 7 and now I'm have trouble with it.
I have downloaded the latest driver for the cable from the prolific website and installed it.

The problem is that the phone stops responding a few minutes after the connection is established. I have to unplug the cable, end the connection manually, plug the cable back in and dial again. This happens every few minutes.

I never had this problem with XP. Please Help.

Thanks
Maybe a bit of a long shot, but there is a timeout feature in Com port settings that appears to default to "ON".  Try opening a command prompt and entering:

mode com1: to=off

See if that helps.

Is there anyway to do this after the connection has dialed? The port settings change when the modem is dialed:

Status for device COM9:
-----------------------
    Baud:            230400
    Parity:          None
    Data Bits:       8
    Stop Bits:       1
    Timeout:         ON
    XON/XOFF:        OFF
    CTS handshaking: ON
    DSR handshaking: OFF
    DSR sensitivity: OFF
    DTR circuit:     ON
    RTS circuit:     HANDSHAKE

But when I try to change it i get

"Device COM9 is not currently available."

Hi De_Angelow,

Can you provide us with the model number for the prolific device, and a link to which you got the drivers?

Thanks!

I have found if you have two of the Prolific USB to Serial devises you can plug in the first one (which does not work) then plug in the second one and it will work just fine....You can unplug the first one and the second one still works fine until you restart. Then do it all over again..The max bits per seconds is 115200 on most of the devices...Using Windows 7 32 or 64 bit
