Program gets an "psapi.dll missing" error when i try to start it

After running QlikSense deskpot on my computer for a couple of weeks I suddenly start getting a "Can't run program due to PSAPI.DLL missing" eror.

I have unistalled and reinstalled the program with no success.

How can I fix this problem?

I am running WIndows 10 on Parallell 11 on a Mac.

Hi,

Thank you for posting your query on Microsoft Community.

This issue may arise due to corruptions in system files. We will assist you to resolve the issue.

I suggest you to perform SFC scan and check if it helps to resolve the issue.

System File Checker (SFC) is a utility in Microsoft Windows that allows users to scan for and restore corruptions in Windows system files. Perform System File Check (SFC), and then check if this fixes the issue.

Press the Windows button + X on your keyboard, a mini dialogue box will appear.

2. Choose Command Prompt (Admin). You must run the command prompt in Administrator level.

3. On the command prompt type sfc /scannow and hit enter.

4. If everything went okay and no errors were found, restart your computer and see if the issue re-occurs.

Hope the information helps. Let us know if you need further assistance. We will be happy to help.

Thank you.

It didn't work. The scan reported some problems:

Windows Resource Protection found corrupt files but was unable to fix some
of them. Details are included in the CBS.Log windir\Logs\CBS\CBS.log. For
example C:\Windows\Logs\CBS\CBS.log. Note that logging is currently not
supported in offline servicing scenarios.

I restarted the computer but the missing psapi.dll error is still there.

Would you have another suggestion?

Hi,

Thank you for the response.

The process status application programming interface (PSAPI) is a helper library that makes it easier for you to obtain information about processes and device drivers.

Since the issue persists, I suggest you to run DISM and check if it helps.

The DISM or System Update Readiness tool may help you to fix some Windows corruption errors.

Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /CheckHealth
Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /ScanHealth
Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth

Note: Run the commands one at a time.

Let us know if you need further assistance. We will be happy to help.

Thank you.

Hi Krishna,

The .../Checkhealth command ran OK

But both the /Scanhealth and /RestoreHealth commands returned an error 1726 with a "Remote Procedure Call Failed" message.

Should I try to reinstall Windows 10 as a last resort...?

Hi,

Thank you for the response.

This issue indicates that the Remote Procedure Call services might stopped working.

Check if the Remote Procedure Call (RPC) services are started.
a. Press Windows Key + R, type services.msc, press ENTER.

b. Search for service named Remote Procedure Call (RPC).

c. You will find two services with the same name first one should be automatic and the second one which is Remote Procedure Call (RPC) locator should be manual.

d. Check if it is started, if not right click on the service and click on Start.

After it gets started, I suggest you to perform DISM and check if it helps.

Do let us know the status of the issue. We will be happy to assist you.

Thank you.
