Problems signing in to Games for Windows - LIVE, it says that this gamertag is not exist, but it is exist.

Hello.

Have a problem here:
Noticed that Xbox LIVE and GFW LIVE are using the same gamertags to both services. Downloaded the GFW LIVE client, signed in with no problems, and my gamerscore and Microsoft Points are there too.

But:
When I try to sign in to GFW LIVE forums at http://forums.gamesforwindows.com, I get an error, stating that I have no gamertag, but I have it.

There is the message:

GamerTag Not Found

You need a gamertag to use the forums on the Games for Windows website—it’s easy to get one. Go to http://go.microsoft.com/?linkid=6625227 to choose a name and other cool things that’ll help people identify you in the forums.

Then return to the forums and sign in with your new gamertag to fully participate in the forums on the new Games for Windows website.

See you soon!

As you can see, the link is redirects to xbox.com. But I already have a gamertag, so why I cannot sign in on GFW LIVE forums?

I see that they know about the problem here: http://forums.gamesforwindows.com/t/8299.aspx , but... I CANNOT SIGN IN there to say that I also in this bug... My gamertag is created awhile ago, so the thing that all new accounts from these days cannot login is irrelevant to me. I live with this issue from the beginning (a year ago or so). Any help?

Hi Arseny Kravchenko,

Welcome to Microsoft answers.

·         May I know which browser are you using to connect to this websites?

You may have to use your Hotmail or Windows Live ID’s to connect to this websites.

I suggest that you optimize the Internet Explorer settings on the computer and check.

Refer the link to optimize the settings for the Internet Explorer: How to optimize Internet Explorer: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/936213

If the above steps do not fix the issue, then I suggest that you reset the browser settings on the computer, download the Microsoft fix-it from the link below which automatically resets the browser settings on the computer

Refer the link: How to reset Internet Explorer settings: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/923737

I have the same problem. I was trying to get to the forums to get help with the fact that Games for Windows Marketplace crashes on startup after install. I could see I wasn't the only one with this problem, but I couldn't post because of the exact same problem you explained above. So far the re-launch of the Games for Windows Live marketplace is a complete disaster. Obviously the techs here are asking questions that have nothing to do with what's going on in the first place, so they are pretty useless too. The worst part of all this is that I can't communicate with Microsoft about the problem because of their own terrible bugs in the system.

I have the same problem.  These Microsoft sites are a nasty rabbit's warren of incompatible rubbish.  No wonder Steam owns 85% of the online PC gaming market.  Tried with IE8, Chrome, and FireFox.  Even created a brand new live.com mail address, same error message with my "real" ID and my newly created one.

I have the same problem:

I go here: http://forums.gamesforwindows.com
I click 'Write a new post"
I get a page that says Sign In. (sign-in name and password). I get this:

Invalid User Credentials
The username and/or password cannot be validated, or your account is locked out or has not been approved yet.

So I try clicking "Click here to join" and get this:

GamerTag Not Found

I click the link and get taken to the XBox page. I am all signed in at the top right but cannot get back to the Windows forum.

I can confirm that I'm getting it as well. Shame too, as it looks like it's been a constant error preventing users from joining the forums for such a long time.
