problem with playing video on my PC

Hi,
I have a problem playing videos on my computer.
When I want to play a video on: media player, Twitter, etc. (also my YouTube working slower when I'm watching something)
instead of an video I only see a black screen. When I stop playing the video
and I try to take SS (win+shift+s) I see the screen normally.
I did all windows, driver updates, etc.
(sorry for my English XD)

Hi

Welcome to Microsoft community.

I understand you're having trouble playing videos on your PC. Here are a few steps you can try to solve this issue:

  1. Check your graphics driver: Ensure that your graphics card driver is up to date. You can usually find the latest version on the manufacturer's website.

  2. Clear your browser's cache and cookies: If the problem is with online videos, try clearing your browser's cache and cookies. This can often solve issues with loading or playing content.

Disclaimer: Your browser automatically saves temporary internet files to help pages load faster. Clearing this cache will sometimes fix website issues. Please back up all your personal files first, such as Favorites, to ensure you do not lose data.

  3. Disable Hardware Acceleration: Sometimes, hardware acceleration can cause issues with video playback. You can usually find this setting in your browser's settings menu.

  4. Try a different media player: If the problem is with local videos, try using a different media player to see if the issue persists.

  5. Check for system updates: Make sure your operating system is up to date. Sometimes, video playback issues can be caused by out of date software.

  6. Scan for malware: Sometimes, malware can cause issues with video playback. Run a scan with your preferred antivirus software to rule this out.

If none of these solutions work, please provide more information about your PC (Operating System, Graphics Card, etc.) and the types of videos you're having trouble with. This will help me provide a more accurate solution.

And don't worry about your English, it's perfectly fine! If you have any other questions, feel free to ask.

Best regards

Hi

Thanks for your reply.

I know the previous solutions didn't resolve the issue with playing videos on your PC. Based on the information you provided, it seems that you have already updated your drivers, disabled hardware acceleration, and cleared your browser's cache and cookies.

Since you mentioned that you're experiencing issues with specific websites like Twitter and Messenger, it's possible that there could be compatibility issues or conflicts with certain browser settings. Here are a few additional steps you can try:

  1. Try using a different browser: Install and try using a different browser, such as Google Chrome or Mozilla Firefox, to see if the issue persists. This will help determine if the problem is specific to your current browser (Opera GX).

  2. Disable browser extensions: Some browser extensions can interfere with video playback. Try disabling any extensions you have installed and see if that resolves the issue.

  3. Reset your browser settings: If the problem persists, you can try resetting your browser settings to their default values. This will revert any custom settings or configurations that may be causing the issue.

  4. Check for browser updates: Make sure you have the latest version of your browser installed. Updates often include issue fixes and improvements that can help resolve compatibility issues.

I did everything and it still doesn't work. (in the browser and Media Player.)
Can I restore the computer to the point it was in, e.g. 2 months ago?
Everything worked then.
(I don't remember changing anything since then, I don't know why video playback suddenly doesn't work ;/)

Hi

Thanks for your reply.

I know that the issue persists. If you believe that the problem started recently and was not present, for example, 2 months ago, you can indeed try to restore your computer to a previous state using a system restore point. This feature essentially allows your computer to go back in time, removing any system changes that may have caused the issue.

Here are the steps to perform a system restore on Windows 11:

  1. In the Windows search bar, type "Create a restore point" and select it from the list of results.

  2. In the System Properties window that opens, under the System Protection tab, click on the "System Restore..." button.

  3. In the System Restore window, click "Next."

  4. Now you'll see a list of restore points. Select a restore point that was created before you started experiencing issues with video playback. If you don't see any restore points, check the "Show more restore points" box.

  5. After you've selected a restore point, click "Next," then "Finish" to start the system restore process.

Please note: Any programs or drivers installed after the restore point will be removed, and any programs or drivers uninstalled after the restore point will be restored. However, your personal files will not be affected.

If a system restore does not resolve the issue, or if you do not have any restore points available, I would recommend consulting with a professional technician of your PC or graphics card manufacturer. They may be able to provide more specific troubleshooting steps based on their knowledge of the hardware.

Please keep in mind that a system restore should be used as a last resort, as it can potentially cause other software issues. Always make sure to back up any important data before proceeding.
