Problem Printing to Network printer from some machines

I have two PCs running Windows 7 on a simple network. A network printer (Samsung 3050) is also attached. One PC can print, the other cannot.

Both PCs can ping the printer and open its http control page. The printer is detected as a network device on both PCs, showing up on the network map. During printer installation, the printer appears as an available network printer. On the successful PC, the port settings are auto detected and the wizard moves on to printer driver selection. On the PC which fails, the "Additional Port Information Required" dialogue page is shown and the port info has to be selected manually.

On the PC which fails, print jobs simply wait in the print queue indefinitely.

The print spooler and RPC services all look OK and firewalls on both PCs are identical.

I guess some service is missing or is being blocked from auto detecting the port protocol?

Any help gratefully received

Answer

Problem solved : Found a difference in Mcafee firewall settings. A recent auto-update (not sure if it was microsoft or mcafee) blocked the print spooler on one machine.
