Possibitlity of Wireless/Network Status Window at Logon Screen (Win 7)

I work for a school district with a large number of laptops. Some of our laptops have connection issues in certain areas of our schools. As well, our student laptops are deepfreezed which prevents windows 7 from caching the previous logged on student/user. In any case, I was wondering if there were any scripts, third-party tools, or any other methods to display a wiresless/network status at the logon screen for windows 7 computers? This would help students to wait until they could see that their laptop has a connection before attempting to logon.
