Popup regarding Windows feature updates.

I keep getting a popup (from the right side of the screen) that reads as follow:

"Change is good.
The newest Windows feature update is ready to install. We need you to kick it off.
This one  could take little longer than other updates.

Snooze options:
  Remind me tonight.
  Remind me tomorrow.
  Remind me in 3 days."

There is nothing to identify this as a legitimate Microsoft message.

Is this a scam?

Answer

Hi Andrew,

This popup message is referring to Fall Creators Update (Version 1709) , the latest version of Windows 10.

This is a legitimate upgrade coming from Microsoft, and you may check the features of this update in this article. Fall Creators Update has been available since October last year, though some computers only started getting the notifications recently due to the staggered distribution dates.

Let us know if you have any other concerns about your computer.
