Pink hue on photos in Photo Gallery

(Windows Vista x32 Home premium Edition Service Pack 2 & Microsoft Office 2007)

I recently (Sun 05/08/12) used AVG free one-time fix ‘PC Tuneup’ to hopefully solve two long running problems, detailed below, and speed up the PC in general.

1. Photo Gallery will not operate correctly in my user account but works fine in the other 2 accounts (1 User & 1 Administrator), It locks up with a message stating “Loading”; thumbnail picture advances when right arrow clicked but main picture freezes;  slide show shows some pictures in poor resolution & small size or refuses to run showing an error message, I am able to use it in the other accounts.

2. More recently the PC randomly crashes, presenting a blue screen before rebooting itself.

AVG PC Tune was used to scan for problems/errors, 11348 problems were detected, 11347 were fixed after I selected the option to repair them.

Immediately after this process I found that Photo Gallery actually worked OK but unfortunately when photos are viewed full size (i.e double clicking thumbnails and advancing through the photos with the arrow buttons) the blank borders each side of the 4:3 photos are now light pink (white previously) and the photo itself takes on the same degree of pink hue/cast (i.e the whole colour balance is wrong, white clouds are now pink etc) and this occurs now in all three accounts. The thumbnails are OK, the Photo Gallery slide show is OK, any photo set as desktop background is OK, photos viewed in any other package are OK (i.e Picasa 3, camera download software), so it’s a problem purely with Photo Gallery.

I also discovered that it was now not possible to open links attached to emails that I had previously been able to open, so on balance I decided to use the AVG Rescue Centre to restore everything back to where it was before the ‘Tune-up’. This recovered the email problem, Photo Gallery still worked OK in my user account, surprisingly, but alas the pictures are still pink, in all three accounts. I’ve not yet discovered any other problems, time will tell.

Can someone help me to correct the pink picture problem in Photo Gallery.

Thank you, any assistance would be most welcome.

Hi Sandeep V,

Thank you kindly for your reply. I have followed through the instructions to remove the unwanted color profile, however, in the Color Management dialog box, under the Devices tab, for the display device “Acer X222W – NVIDIA GeForce 9500GT” (out of interest, in the “Device” drop down menu there are 3 identical display devices and all have the same single profile) I have only one ICC profile shown and that is “Acer X222W (default)” I’m guessing I shouldn’t delete this ?

Under the “All Profiles” tab in the Color Management dialog box,
at the top of the list I have : Acer X222W : X222.icm : Display;
next on the list is : sRGB IEC61966-2.1 : sRGB Color Space Profile : Display.

Under the “Advanced” tab in the Color Management dialog box,
at the top I have : Device Profile : System default : sRGB IEC61966-2.1
and below : Viewing conditions profile : System default (WCS profile for sRGB viewing conditions)
The following 5 drop down menus all show “System Default (xxxx.......x)”

I'm not quite sure what to do at this stage, are there any clues with the additional info given above ?

Regards.

Try removing 'all' the profiles.
