Photoshop supported for XP?

We can't open Photoshop. It says Photoshop is no longer supported for Windows 8, but we are on XP

Could you open it before?

How long ago?

Have you made any changes to the pc since that time?

Try System restore back to when it worked.

Have you just installed it?

Which version?

If so you'd need to check with adobe, but I'm assuming this is an old version, going by the not supported for win8 comment, so they most likely wouldn't be able to help  either, though their support forums may have suggestions.

Can you explain further what you are trying to do?

Don't you have a photoshop icon on your desktop to open the programme?

I'm sorry, I do not know of a free photoshop option.
Your link refers to Internet Explorer 8, not Windows *, so if you update your version of IE it should work again for you.

Unless you had a 30 day free trial and of course, that will no longer work as you last used it more than 30 days ago.

If you are using internet explorer 8, just upgrade it to 9 or 10, don't think you can have 11 on XP.

Microsoft stopped supporting Windows XP on April 8, 2014.  Although some software companies continued to make their products compatible with XP, the number of those products has been steadily dwindling.  According to Adobe, 'All 2015 Creative Cloud desktop apps have a minimum operating system requirement of Mac OS X 10.9 and Windows 7, or later."  https://helpx.adobe.com/creative-cloud/system-requirements.html

The Adobe support link you found says that Adobe's Creative Cloud products no longer work with Internet Explorer version 8.

Internet Explorer version 8 was the last version of Internet Explorer that is compatible with Windows XP.  That is, Internet Explorer 9 and more recent -- IE is up to version 11 -- will not run on Windows XP.

Adobe used to offer its products as software that you could install on your computer.  In May 2013, Adobe announced that it would no longer release new versions of its "Creative Suite" (i.e., the installable software).  It sounds as if you have a subscription to Adobe's "Creative Cloud" -- Adobe's software by subscription service.  This requires access using a browser, so you may be out of luck.  See #4 below

You have four choices:

  1. abandon Windows XP, most likely by buying a new computer
  2. purchase an out-of-date version of whatever Adobe product you need.  The last version of Adobe Creative Suite was CS6, released in 2012.
  3. switch to a different product. either Adobe Photoshop Elements 14 (the current version) or one of Corel's products (but first check their compatibility with XP):

    http://www.digitalartistdaily.com/blog/2011/11/corel-painter-versus-photoshop/
    http://www.adobe.com/products/photoshop-elements.html?promoid=DJDWS
  4. It's possible, although not likely, that despite the statement about not supporting Windows XP at all, Adobe Creative Cloud will work with an up-to-date web browser.  Mozilla Firefox is currently at version 41.0.2, and that version will run on Windows XP sp2 --> https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/41.0.2/system-requirements/

If you try to find Photoshop CS6 or an earlier version of Photoshtop, be very careful.  Sites that offer expensive software at a heavy discount -- even old versions -- are likely to be selling counterfeit software.
