Neighbors .....Photoscape worked perfectly when installed with Windows 7.      After installing it on a new computer (Lenovo i5 desktop), it will not save photos.   The error message reads ..... "Failed to save.    If the file is a read only file it cannot be saved".      But, the files are NOT READ ONLY. 
I have reinstalled Photoscape three times and used Windows 8 compatibility to troubleshoot.     What next?   thanks, your neighbor, ron :-)

1.      Is the issue confined to Photoscape?

2.      Which version of Photoscape are you using?

3.      Are you able to make changes to the photos using Photoscape?

4.      What is the format of the photos?

5.      Are you able to save other files using other apps?



This might be an issue with compatibility. You may refer to the following link to check if the program is compatible with Windows 8. .




We tried looking for the compatible version of Photoscape with Windows 8 and it seems that the latest version is only for the operating system upto Windows 7.




If the program is not compatible with Windows 8 you may install it in Windows 7 compatibility mode.



You may follow the steps to uninstall Photoscape.



a.       Press Windows key + X and select control panel.

b.      Select the option “Programs and features” in control panel.

c.       Select uninstall a Program.

d.      Click on Photoscape and click Uninstall.




Follow the steps to install the program in compatibility mode.



a.       Download the setup files on the computer. You may refer to the link to download the program.


b.      Right-click on the program setup files and click on Properties.

c.       Click on the Compatibility tab and check the box “Run this program in compatibility mode for” and select Windows 7 operating system from the drop down.

d.      Click on Apply and click OK and run the file to install it.
