Photos won't open, I get a black blank screen

Original Title: Windows 10 photo issue

Since upgrading to windows 10 I am unable to view my photos, I can see a thumbnail, but the photos wont open to view them. I get a black blank screen for a few seconds then its goes away. I have tried both options listed to solve this problem with no luck in my results. I guess my big question is why does anyone have to go thru all these **** to view items they previously had access too. I am seriously thinking of going back to what I had, because I need access to my photos for my job. I have had to resolve using my old laptop to do my job.

  • Which application are you using to photos? 

  • What all steps you have tried to resolve the issue?

If you are using the Windows Photo app, try the following methods.

Method 1: I suggest you to run the troubleshooter for Windows apps and check if it helps.

App Troubleshooter is an automated tool which we have developed to address a number of known issues that can prevent the Apps from running properly. This troubleshooter automatically fixes some issues, including suboptimal screen resolution, incorrect security or account settings etc. You can click on this link to download and run the Apps troubleshooter.

Method 2: Update the App facing the issue.

I suggest you to update the Photos App, from the Windows Store. This may resolve the issue.

I have the exact same issue, have performed Methods 1 and 2, and no resolution.

Same here!  I really need my photos.  Anyone have any other ideas???
