Photos app face recognition and naming people detected

Dear Sir/Madame,

since the photos app on windows 10 has a people tag sorting people based on the faces detected, it must have an option where the user can associate every face with a name so that it becomes easier to search and to share the photos of the people only if they are in them.

how is it possible to add names to the detected faces?

is it possible to share the photos based on their sort in the people tab?

It's working for me now. Face recognition, merging faces that were not recognized as the same person, and naming people.

Try doing the powershell uninstall/reinstall.  It only takes a few minutes. Obviously, the app will need to reindex your photos which does take some time.  I just left the app open, came back a few hours later and all 85 Gb's worth of photos were ready.

I don't doubt that face recognition, naming and merging works after one or more reinstalls. But did you also check the recognition rate? Before the reset, the app recognized 999 photos with the face of my elder son. But i could not give a name to the photos. After several resets, I could give names to the thumbnails, but it recognized only 378 photos of my son (see screenshot on page 3 of this forum). For other persons, the detection rate degraded even more.

I am trying to use the Photos app to perform facial recognition and it seems to be working just fine, but it is only looking at pictures I have in my onedrive.  Any folders I have locally or on network shares, the pictures are not being scanned and added to the people tab.  Is there a way to force it to run recognition, or does this feature ONLY work with Onedrive?

Kevin

I am able to fix this issue by uninstalling photo.DLC addon from application setting.

Goto App setting ( by right click on photo app) -> in bottom you can see the list add on just uninstall photo.DLC addon now it is working

Its not working on any folder for me.  I see all of these suggestions to uninstall, reinstall etc.  There are too many options out there for services that work to spend the time fixing Microsoft's problems. Yes, you have to pay for the software but it works.

This is the same issue I am having. The lion's share of my photo collection is on my NAS and not on OneDrive. It would be nice if the face recognition would work there. At the very least clear identification of the limits of features should be posted so that users are not given false expectations. A basic tenet of good customer service.
