Phone Number Associated With Another Account

PREFACE: The number is not on another account. Also posting for my boyfriend and his account due to him spending hours with support just to get no where

Ok, so when I try to put my phone number in my account it says it's associated with another account but when I go to log in with the phone number to see what account it is, it logs me into my normal account but still says I have no associated number. I need help from microsofts end but can't reach anyone that is able to help other than posting here and hoping. This is the worst experience I have ever had with microsoft and is probably the reason I will swap to linux and quit using all microsoft products in the near future.

Threatening to switch away from Microsoft Windows will not help.

When you purchased your computer, you paid the "Microsoft Tax" to get Windows pre-installed on your computer. They already have your money.

Anyway, if you were logged-in to some other Microsoft Account when you entered your telephone-number, Microsoft detected you were trying to switch from the "already-logged-in" account into your own account, and that's why you got the message. The message did NOT block you from logging-in to your own account. I think that you DO have a telephone-number associated with your Microsoft Account.

Once logged-in, review your account's "settings", to check that the settings are what you expect them to be.
