This problem has only just started: when I reply to texts from individuals via Phone Link my own message returns to me, and creates a group of the person I am communicating with and me. I can't leave or delete this group. Every time I then reply to the other person I receive my own text as a separate message. This issue does not occur when sending messages from my phone (Samsung S24 Ultra). It does occur when using my PC and/or a separate laptop. For context, I have been using Phone Link on Windows for several years without this issue. The PC and laptop are the same. The mob phone is quite new, however I think the problem is within Phone Link. Thank you.

Hello, VA005
Welcome to Microsoft Community.
I've noticed other users experiencing similar issues recently. You might want to check it out:

I recommend rolling back to an older version of Phone Link and reporting the issue to the developers. Give it a try and see if it helps.

Hello Yuhao L, thanks so much for your kind reply.
The opptions you mention are beyond my IT confidence but I will report the issue and see if a friend can help me do the rollback..
I wonder if anyone has solved the problem in a simpler way?
Cheers!

Hi,
I am having a similar problem but it multiplied.
Just now, I sent a message to a single person in reply to their message. Phone link sent my answer to multiple others, including that person. Four people that I had mentioned in the body of the text and another person totally unrelated to the message. All of us, including an SMS to myself, have now been included in this incident which should have been a simple 1:! communication.
In this case no harm was done but I am now worried that it will happen randomly again, and cause real problems.
HELP please explain how to turn this OFF.

Hi.
I am having the same problem using Phone Link where my own message returns to me, and creates a group of the person I am communicating with and me.
Please fix as it now makes sending SMS there unusable.
Thanks.

This looks like the exact issue I've had for a month or two now. When I reply to a message using phone link, I hear an SMS "ping" on my phone as if it has just received a new message! When I look there is a new message created with me and the original sender, however it's like a clone of that person. Their original message has their avatar (photo) in a circular icon and the rogue message has their picture in a square icon. It's as if the phone (Pixel 9 Pro) thinks they're separate contacts. The two threads are disconnected, with the incoming message in my contact's original "conversation" and the rogue one out on its own. The conversation becomes disjointed on my phone but seems ok on theirs.

What you describe is exactly what happens to me especially regarding the circular and square icons.

Glad to hear I'm not alone. It's quite hard/complex to describe. I just can't use Phone Link for writing texts any more: it leaves conversations in a total mess. I sure hope they fix it as it used to be really useful for my work.

Thank you for the extra information. YES! I am having that issue. Also, phonelink tells me that it has sent out a rogue SMS to a group, but now I am learning that not everyone in that group is actually receiving that SMS at all.
