PC restarts randomly with no BSOD

My PC has started to randomly shut down and restart itself without any BSOD, additionally if my computer sits on the sign in screen for too long without me signing in it will freeze and I have to restart.

Mostly it only happens when the computer is idle, but seems to be occurring more and more frequently.

Here are my System Events.evtx

AMD Ryzen 9 5900X

TUF Gaming x570
GeForce RTX 3080TI

Let me know if there is anything else I should provide to help with this, thank you!

Hello there! I am Charity, I'm an Independent Advisor. I'm glad to help you today!

Thank you for the information. Event 41, Kernel-Power." This error indicates that the system has rebooted without cleanly shutting down first.

May I ask on how old is your computer, more specifically, your power supply? and what is the make and model of your PSU? Ensure that your power supply unit (PSU) is working properly and is powerful enough to support your system's components. A faulty PSU can cause unexpected shutdowns.

I would also suggest to do a diagnostic scan of your RAM.

Press Win + R to open the Run dialog box.

Type mdsched.exe and press Enter.

A dialog box will appear with two options:

Restart now and check for problems (recommended): This will restart your computer immediately and begin the memory test.

Check for problems the next time I start my computer: This will schedule the test to run the next time you reboot your PC.

If you choose to restart immediately, your computer will reboot, and the Windows Memory Diagnostic tool will start running.

The tool will perform a series of tests on your RAM. This may take some time, depending on the size of your memory.

Please let me know if you have any more questions, I'll do my best to respond as soon as possible.

Kind Regards,
Charity (Timezone GMT+08:00)

Hi Thanks for the help. I ran the memory test and it came back with no errors. That said, I am using two different brands of ram, so I went ahead and removed my old ram and i'll see if that helps.

As for the PSU it seems to be integrated directly into the case itself, it doesnt have any label on it to tell me the wattage or anything and isnt removable. From what I remember its a 1000 watt, I got it from apex gaming pcs. The computer itself is roughly 4 years old.

Thank you for the confirmation. Since there's no errors on the memory side of things, this could/possibly be a failing PSU. That was the past issue I had before, I actually have similar specs with your PC (Have a 3080 only though) and my old PSU, it was a Corsair HX1000 failed on me after 5 years of use.

But, before assuming that, let's double check everything on the software side.

Let's check if you have any corrupted system files. First, open Command Prompt as an administrator by right-clicking the Start button and selecting "Command Prompt (Admin)." In the Command Prompt window, type sfc /scannow and press Enter. Wait for the scan to complete; this process might take some time, and the tool will automatically attempt to fix any detected issues. Once the scan is finished, restart your computer.

Next, open Command Prompt as an administrator again. In the Command Prompt window, type DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth and press Enter. Wait for the process to complete, as it might also take some time to repair the Windows image. Once the DISM process is complete, restart your computer.

Then, I would also suggest to do a clean boot after.

Please let me know if this works for you. I'll do my best to respond as soon as possible.

Unfortunately its still crashing. Would the freezing at the login screen after starting up be caused by a bad power supply to though?
The last time it didnt even full crash, just froze which it hasnt done before, its always been straight to black screen and auto restart.

Freezing at the login screen after startup can indeed be related to a faulty power supply, but it's not the most common cause. A bad power supply can cause various issues, including random freezes, crashes, or even failure to boot entirely.

But let's try the steps above again, in safe mode.

Hold down the Shift key on your keyboard while you click the Restart option from the Start menu.

After your PC restarts, you’ll see a blue screen with several options. Click on Troubleshoot.

Select Advanced options.

Click on Startup Settings.

Click on Restart. Your PC will restart again and present a list of options.

After the restart, press F4 to start in Safe Mode, F5 to start in Safe Mode with
Networking, or F6 to start in Safe Mode with Command Prompt.

Then, let's try the sfc scan steps again.

Please let me know if this works for you. I'll do my best to respond as soon as possible.
