Password reset disk for Windows 7 Professional

At your suggestion I purchased a new computer and Windows 10 and Microsoft 365.

Gradually I have moved data from Windows 7 to the new computer on Windows 10.

From time to time I have needed to look at the Windows 7 machine for data.  This has not been a problem until a couple of days ago when I used the wrong password.  The Windows 7 machine is now locked!!!

All I can get on the Windows 7 machine is a message to "insert a password reset disk".

I don't have such a disk.

I have a new USB which I can insert into this machine running Windows 10, and from which this request is being sent.

Could you send me a download of the "password reset disk" data for Windows 7 Professional please.

Kind regards,

Graeme Ludlow.

You make a Password Reset disk before you forget the Password, not afterwards.

"What to do if you forget your Windows password"

http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows7/what-to-do-if-you-forget-your-windows-password

"If you forget the administrator password and don't have a password reset disk or another administrator account, you won't be able to reset the password. If there are no other user accounts on the computer, you won't be able to log on to Windows and will need to re-install Windows."

This is a suggestion for you as you say you know the correct password.

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/940765

If you cannot log on to Windows 7 or Windows Vista, you can use the Windows Vista System Restore feature, or the Windows 7 System Restore feature.

You may be unable to log on to Windows Vista or Windows 7 in the following scenarios:

  • Scenario 1: You recently set a new password for the protected administrator account. However, you do not remember the password.
  • Scenario 2: You type the correct logon password. However, Windows Vista or Windows 7 does not accept the password because the system is corrupted.
  • Scenario 3: You delete a protected administrator account. Now, you cannot log on to another administrator account.
  • Scenario 4: You change a protected administrator account to a standard user account. Now, you cannot log on to another administrator account.

Make your own System Repair Disk from the information in this Tutorial:

"How to Create a Windows 7 System Repair Disc"

   Note

AS you are unable to use your Windows 7 to create a Windows 7 System Repair Disc, then you could create it on another computer to use on your computer."
