Outlook Mail language settings - avoiding region default

I have had problems with the recently updated Outlook Mail app on both my phone and my PC (both using Windows).

So, my system language is English (US) and my location and regional settings are - Denmark.

This was never really a problem before but now - the default language for new emails in the Outlook Mail app is Danish and I don't have time to go and change it every time I write a new email.

The only thing that seems to change the language to English (US) is if I change my regional settings to English (US) - I haven't tried changing the location but that doesn't seem to make a difference.

My question is - is there a way of setting the default input language for the Outlook Mail app without changing the regional settings?

Thank you in advance.

Hello Ernie,

This is not really the problem.

I have Office 365 installed on my PC and the language settings for all Office 365 applications are working exactly like they should and I am aware of how I can change language preferences there.

What I'm talking about is the Outlook Mail APP (so, not really part of the full Office package - just the app) - that doesn't really seem to be influenced by standalone Office settings but rather by the system settings.

This wouldn't really bother me that much, since I use Outlook 365 on my PC - but the settings in the Outlook Mail App get synced with my Windows phone (Windows 10 Insider Preview) and it's really cumbersome to have to change the language on my phone every time I want to drop someone a quick email.

So, what's your next idea? :)

Just to add something - the default typing language should be determined by the default display laguage and not by regional settings.

Why is nobody answering here?

Is anyone else experiencing problems similar to mine?

Hi Stjepan,

With regard to your concern, the only way to change the default input language for the Outlook Mail app is to change your regional settings to English (US).

However, you can give us a feedback or suggestion about this product on this link.

Thank you.
