OSK in Windows 7 Vista Home Premium desktop

I deleted my Windows OSK from my start menu, when I click and go to Ease of Access, I am able to bring the OSK to my desktop but cannot use it to type anything. Is there a way I can reinstall the use of the OSK?

Hi gmabrenda,

Let us few more details about the issue.

1.      How did you delete the on screen key board from start menu?

2.      What happens when you try to use On screen keyboard? Do you get any error message?

3.      Do you have Windows Vista or Windows 7?

I would suggest you to run sfc/scan and check for the issue.

The sfc /scannow command scans all protected system files and replaces incorrect versions with correct Microsoft versions. When the scan is complete, the System File Checker tool indicates whether integrity violations were found. If integrity violations are found, the System File Checker tool lets you fix the integrity violations. Refer to the following article to run sfc/scan.

Use the System File Checker tool to troubleshoot missing or corrupted system files on Windows Vista or on Windows 7

NOTE: This may take a while to finish running.

Do let us know about the status of the issue. We would be happy to help you further.

Open Start menu
Paste this to search box %appdata%\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\Accessories\Accessibility
Press enter, a folder will appear

If you don't see On-Screen Keyboard there
Right click anywhere in the folder > New > Shortcut
It will ask you a path
%windir%\system32\osk.exe paste this there and press next
and enter On-Screen Keyboard as name

If you see the On-Screen Keyboard or you completed the creating shortcut part
Open Start menu > Search for keyboard
On-Screen Keyboard will appear, right click on it and click Pin to Start

Thank you for your help. When I deleted osk from my start menu I clicked on the start menu, went to accessories, clicked on ease of access center, then to osk and right clicked to delete.
I am using Windows 7.
When I go to the eoa center, I can click the keyboard and it will pop up but I'm not able to type in any window except the eoa page.
