Optiarc DVD RW AD-7710H

I have a Toshiba computer. Updated it to windows 10. Now my DVD player is not working.

When I go into the properties, it says:

Windows cannot start this hardware device because its configuration information (in the registry) is incomplete or damaged. (Code 19)

I tried all the things suggested by other inquiries including, deleted the device, rebooted the computer and the same message. Tried to update the driver and it says I have the most current one.  Went to the manufacturers website and there hasn't been an update there in years. I NEED to be able to use my DVD player/burner on my laptop. If there is no way to get a new driver for this, is it possible to revert back to my previous Windows 7 so it will work again?

Hi,

Tell us more about your DVD drive. When did you upgrade to Windows 10? When exactly did the issue start? Were you able to use it right after upgrading to Windows 10? If so, what changes have been made to your device? Review all programs that you recently installed that might have affected this. Otherwise, if the device became unusable right after upgrading to Windows 10, it might indicate that the device isn't supported.

We look forward to your response.

Also, there is the following FAQ from Toshiba which also applies to Windows 10 upgrade:

http://support.toshiba.com/sscontent?docId=98084086

Try uninstalling the two programs (TOSHIBA Recovery Media Creator, TOSHIBA Disc Creator) if they are installed.

Be sure to restart the computer afterward.

I updated my laptop then set it aside in late 2015 as I have a different computer I also use. It was the update to windows 10 that is the issue. I sought out advice and all my searching comes down to the manufacturer is out of business or some other such thing because there have been no driver updates since 2010. This Optiarc DVD RW AD-7710H is my DVD player burner type. Had I known updating this would make it useless, I would not have done it.

I WANT my old Windows back. Is it possible is my question??

Got it. Have you visited the link provided by auggy? If the issue persists, there could have been some system files that got corrupted during the installation of the update. It sounds like this device worked initially with Windows 10 before. The latest update that you may be referring to is the Fall Creators Update. To diagnose the issue, run the Windows Update troubleshooter. Go to Settings > Update & security > Troubleshoot > Windows Update.

If the device is still not recognized, uninstall the latest update from Control Panel > Programs > View installed updates.
